The state of affairs in the British Royal Family has been complicated, to say the least, for a while. King Charles has cancer and is reportedly not doing well, to the point that Prince Harry’s most recent BBC interview suggested he was looking for a reconciliation, as he didn’t know how much time his father had left. Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship isn’t any better. And now, there are reports that Kate Middleton is trying to fix all of that.

Recent reports have painted the relationship between the brothers as almost unfixable. In fact, one recent headline even suggested Prince William was ready to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their titles as soon as he became King. “It’s no secret William wants Harry more harshly dealt with. He thinks he has betrayed the family from top to bottom, which is the ultimate Windsor crime. It wouldn’t take much to provoke him to flex his muscles when he is king,” a palace insider told The Daily Beast.

However, a recent move by Kate Middleton might indicate she’s hoping the brothers can find common ground. On May 22nd, Middleton took part in a ship naming ceremony for the HMS Glasgow and paid subtle homage to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. She did so by wearing a nautical-inspired navy and white coatdress, which mirrored a silhouette Princess Diana favored, but that wasn’t all. Middleton also wore a pair of the late Princess of Wales’ sapphire and diamond earrings. The earrings are believed to be a wedding present from when Diana married Prince Charles in 1981.

Middleton previously wore this same pair of earrings to Trooping the Colour in June 2022, also Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. She also wore the same hat that she wore at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding just a few days before.

The subtle nod to Princess Diana comes as RadarOnline.com reported that “William is furious that Harry’s speaking out again and doing interviews – he’s convinced this isn’t the end of it.” And Prince William has, therefore, given instructions to the rest of the family not to communicate with Harry. “He’s made it clear to the rest of the family that they should keep their distance from the Sussexes, because anything shared could be turned against them,” the report also said.

“William doesn’t like having to put his foot down with Kate, but he sees this as necessary to protect everyone. What he’s most worried about is that anything Kate says to Harry could be twisted or resurface later – especially if there’s another book, or if Meghan decides to tell her own side of the story.”

But the report indicates Middleton, even if she shares her husband’s frustration, is still hoping for reconciliation. “Kate’s deeply upset with Harry, but she’s also frustrated that William and the rest of the family have allowed things to deteriorate this badly,” the insider said, adding that, “It’s heartbreaking for her to watch the family so publicly divided.”

Is the Princess Diana tribute a subtle reminder from Kate to her husband that it is, perhaps, best to get along with his brother, or just a matter of liking the earrings and wanting to use them? We might never know, but we can’t deny it is a curious time to wear them, considering all the recent reports.
