How Taylor Swift’s Dad Allegedly Exposed Blake Lively’s Plan to Extort His Daughter After Reports She ‘Regrets’ Her Friendship With the Actress
Scott Swift is protecting his daughter. Taylor Swift‘s dad allegedly had a hand in Justin Baldoni dropping his subpoena against the singer in his case against Blake Lively.
The It Ends With Us director dropped the subpoena on May 22, 2025, and a source divulged that the “Lover” singer’s father might have something to do with it. “Scott Swift did not want his daughter to be dragged into this any further and he voluntarily gave up this information as part of a deal that would include [Baldoni’s team] withdrawing their subpoena for Taylor,” a source told the Daily Mail.
On May 14, Baldoni and his legal team filed a subpoena after they learned from an anonymous source that Lively’s lawyer Michael Gottlieb allegedly asked “Ms. Swift [to] release a statement of support for Ms. Lively, intimating that, if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively’s possession would be released.”
After the subpoena was dropped, Lively’s team released a statement. “We are pleased that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm,” a Lively spokesperson stated. “We supported the efforts of Taylor’s team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process.”
Taylor Swift’s team did not respond to the subpoena being dropped. However, her longtime lawyers at the law firm Venable initially responded, “Venable had nothing to do with the film at issue or any of the claims or defenses asserted in the underlying lawsuit,” wrote the firm in a motion to quash, obtained by Billboard. “There is no reason for this subpoena other than to distract from the facts of the case and impose undue burden and expense on a non-party.”
Previously, Swift’s representatives said that the singer “never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, [and] she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film.” They added that Swift did not see It Ends With Us until “weeks after its release” as she was “travelling around the globe” on tour at the time.
The tension arose after text messages emerged in Justin Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively, where the actress allegedly referred to Swift as one of her “dragons” alongside husband Ryan Reynolds. After meeting with Justin Baldoni to discuss a change in the film, Lively texted the director that reads “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi and, like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. You will too, I can promise you.”
The revelation of her father’s involvement also comes after sources reported to the Daily Mail that Taylor Swift regrets her friendship with Blake Lively. “Right now, if Taylor had one wish it would be that she never met Blake,” an insider told the outlet. “Although there have been good times during their relationship, the issues now concerning the Baldoni case have outweighed them.”
That’s not all, the insider added, “When Taylor looks back at their friendship, she realizes it wasn’t worth all the stress Blake put her through. She can now see all the red flags that should have been a warning to her.” There have been no specifics about those red flags, but according to the outlet, “Taylor’s relieved the relationship is over. She put up with Blake’s antics for too long because she’s a loyal friend. It took the It Ends With Us drama to finally get her to pull the trigger on it.”
The outlet also indicated Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is behind her on this. “Taylor and Travis are disgusted with Blake and Ryan and how they tried to use Taylor in their fight against Justin Baldoni,” the insider said. “They’re vowing their break from the acting couple is permanent.”
