Sarah Jessica Parker has never had a facelift, but she isn’t necessarily opposed to one. In an interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2023, Parker joked that she “missed out” on the facelift trend before admitting that she asks others about the procedure “all the time.”

“You know, I missed out on the facelift,” she said. “Like an old-fashioned good one that you have when you’re like 44.” She continued, “I do understand why people make the choice, because there is so much emphasis put on, especially women, and primarily women, about looks. I think about all of it! I ask people all the time like, ‘Is it too late?’”

Parker confessed that she’s “delusional” about her age in Allure in 2023. “I just don’t spend that much time [thinking about appearance],” she wrote. “It’s not that I don’t have an ego, that I don’t have a decent, healthy amount of vanity, but I just don’t want to spend that much time really deconstructing it all. I like to be graceful with myself. I’m not delusional. I know that age adds up, and that there are consequences to being 51, 52, 53. I get it.”

Still, despite the pressure to maintain her appearance, she admitted that she isn’t interested in “stopping time.”

“Do I want to participate in stopping time? No. [Get a] time machine? No. What small effort can I make toward feeling okay? I have to look in the mirror for work a lot and I can’t be in total denial about the reality, and I’d like to feel good, and I’d like other people to think I’m presentable,” she wrote. “Beyond that, it’s out of my hands. People have opinions. That’s the way the world works. Do I wish people were nicer to each other, especially women? Sure. Is it going to dominate the way I choose to live and how much time I devote to hoping to appeal to them? I have no interest after a while. I just want to feel decent when I wake up.”

Parker‘s comments about aging came at the same time as her Sex and the City and And Just Like That co-star, Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York, looked back on her “bad” set of fillers in the first season of the spinoff series. “I have done fillers and it’s been good, and I’ve done fillers and it’s been bad,” Davis told The Telegraph in 2023. “I’ve had to get them dissolved and I’ve been ridiculed relentlessly. And I have shed tears about it. It’s very stressful.”

Davis slammed critics for blaming her, instead of those who administered the fillers, for her face looking “wrong.” “It’s whatever. I can’t keep it up,” she said. “I don’t have time. You’re trusting doctors [but] people personally blame us when it goes wrong – [as if] I jabbed a needle in my face.”

Davis, who also admitted to having work done on her lips, explained that she had the cosmetic procedure done because of the constant reminders of how she looked while filming Sex and the City in her 30s. “It’s hard to be confronted with your younger self at all times,” she said. “It’s a challenge to remember that you don’t have to look like that. The internet wants you to — but they also don’t want you to. They’re very conflicted.”

Davis and Parker’s other Sex and the City co-star, Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, also addressed societal stigma around aging in an interview with The Daily Mail in 2011. She told the newspaper that she wanted to “embrace aging because I think that’s what’s interesting.” She continued, “I think a forehead without any lines doesn’t tell me they’ve lived a life.”
