Rumors that they were together peaked at an all-time high when Fudd attended the WNBA Draft when she sat with Bueckers and their University of Connecticut coach and warned them that she was “mic’d up” for the camera. The two best friends are continuously supportive, and fans pointed out, “who knows what azzi would say if Paige wasn’t” mic’d up. The two met as high schoolers at USA Basketball camp, and described the competitive nature of their first impressions of each other. “I kind of just stereotyped her. I was like, ‘This skinny little white girl, I’m good,’” Fudd told CT News “But she’s deceiving.”
“I don’t really look like a basketball player as much as I am,” Bueckers added. “She definitely underestimated me. I knew what she was. She was a bucket. But I guess it took a while for her to understand what I was.”
“She’s a hard head,” the Dallas Wings player said. “She doesn’t like listening to me sometimes. But I try to help her as much as I can. Right now, I’m trying to get her to be more confident and not second-guess everything she does because she’s a really great player.”
Fudd has repeatedly been seen sitting courtside during Bueckers’ Dallas Wings games, but on June 22, she was seen wearing a Washington Mystics jersey when the two teams went head-to-head.
