Orlando Bloom is taking it one day at a time. After his split with longtime girlfriend Katy Perry, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor took to his social media to give a pretty cryptic update about his life.
“The important thing is to take that first step,” the actor wrote on his Instagram Story on Monday, June 30. “Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.” He cited the quote to Japanese Buddhist leader Daisaku Ikeda. Before that story, he reposted a post containing a quote from Buddha, “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters the most.”
The posts come heels after the actor attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding sans the “E.T.” singer. While the singer’s excuse was that she was on Lifetimes Tour in Australia, the event raised tensions between the ex-couple. “She does have prior commitments, but it goes deeper than that,” a source to the Daily Mail said, noting the dates that were set long before the wedding date was decided on.
“Katy feels like they’re really her friends more than his, and yet he’s the one going to the wedding,” the source added. “And he’s insistent that he goes, which annoys her because he’s not particularly close to either of them. She feels like it’s a ‘f—k you’ to her from him.” Sánchez and Perry were both part of an all-female crew on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket in March 2025.
However, Bloom didn’t think that the venture into space was a good look for his girlfriend. “He told her the whole thing looked ridiculous,” a source in Perry’s camp previously told the Daily Mail. “He said it was cringeworthy. Embarrassing. This was in the middle of a fight, and it hurt her feelings.”
TMZ and People reported that the two had ended their engagement right before the Bezos and Sánchez nuptials—making Bloom a newly emerged bachelor for the festivities. The “California Girls” musician made an Instagram post during the wedding with the caption, “mood: Quokka.” Right under the comments, Sánchez expressed that her love to her friend with a simple, “We miss you Katy.”
As for everything that’s going on in Perry’s world, the musician is coping with being a single parent to their 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove. “She never saw herself being a single mom,” a source told People. “She’s felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It’s been a lot for her. She’s still doing great though.”
