Charlize Theron got real about her body. The 49-year-old actress doesn’t gatekeep her secret to looking younger. In fact, she revealed how she keeps her youthful appearance in tact.

Amid rumors that she’s gone under the knife, she clarified that everything she does is natural. “My face is changing, and I love that my face is changing and aging,” she told Allure in 2023. But “people think I had a facelift. They’re like, ‘What did she do to her face?’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I’m just aging! It doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. This is just what happens.’”

Though she doesn’t do the procedures herself, she does advocate for women to do whatever they want with their bodies. “I’ve always had issues with the fact that men kind of age like fine wines and women like cut flowers,” she explained of society’s double standards. “I despise that concept and I want to fight against it, but I also think women want to age in a way that feels right to them.”

As the actress says, “We need to be a little bit more empathetic to how we all go through our journey.”

The comments resurfaced after fans on Reddit commented on her recent appearance at The Old Guard 2 premiere in June 2025. “Honestly, she’s had a fantastic facelift,” one fan wrote. You can see the scars at the side of her face. She looks phenomenal, I want that surgeons number.”

In the same Allure interview, the Mad Max: Fury Road star elaborated that she wished that she still had the same body functionalities as she did when she was younger. “More than my face,” she said, “I wish I had my 25-year-old body that I can just throw against the wall and not even hurt tomorrow. Now, if I don’t work out for three days and I go back to the gym, I can’t walk.”

The star also declared that she doesn’t want to drastically change her weight for a movie ever again. “I will never, ever do a movie again and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll gain 40 pounds,'” the Oscar winner explained. “When I was 27, I did Monster. I lost 30 pounds overnight. I missed three meals and I was back to my normal weight. Then I did it at 43 for Tully, and I remember a year into trying to lose the weight, I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying because I cannot lose this weight.’ He was like, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Nobody wants to hear that.”

Though she embraces aging very well, the star also opened up about how she had a one-night stand with someone considerably younger than her. “I’ve probably had three one-night stands in my entire life,” Theron recalled on the  “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “But I did just recently f— a 26-year-old and it was really f—ing amazing. And I’ve never done that. I was like, ‘Oh, this is great. OK.’”
