Health scares seem to surround King Charles‘ life after he was diagnosed with an unidentified form of cancer early last year. A recent royal schedule caused alarms to go off for some royal fans after they saw the monarch sport a red eye.
King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigette to Buckingham Palace as part of their state visit on July 8, 2025. Many people observed that the monarch’s right eye was bloodshot and were concerned for the state of his health.
However, Buckingham Palace assured that the King had only experienced a burst blood vessel in one eye. They also said that the condition is unrelated to any other health problem, including the King’s ongoing cancer treatment.

Mayo Clinic lists that a subconjunctival hemorrhage occurs when a tiny blood vessel breaks just underneath the clear surface of your eye. It’s not harmful to one’s health, and it’s often compared to having a bruise visible on your skin.
The health scare comes after sources told RadarOnline that Buckingham Palace officials are getting ready for the King’s funeral. The plans are known as Operation Menai Bridge, but in recent months the codename has been upgraded to Operation London Bridge, according to The Independent. Buckingham Palace, however, insists that the plans have not been finalized. The King is said to still be undergoing weekly cancer treatment, but at this point, he is maintaining a full work schedule.
Royal insider Camilla Tominey previously reported that King Charles’ cancer is incurable after he allegedly refused treatment. “The talk now is that he may die ‘with’ cancer, but not ‘of’ cancer following a rigorous treatment program,” she revealed to The Telegraph. She also confirmed that King Charles’ 80th anniversary plans in 2028 are “tentative” due to his ailing health.
However, a royal aide said King Charles‘s health is indeed improving. He is dealing “incredibly well” with cancer, the anonymous insider told The Telegraph. “The thing you learn about this illness is that you just manage it and that’s what he does. Medical science has made incredible advances and I genuinely see no difference in him. As long as you just do what the doctors say, just live your life as normal as possible… that’s exactly what he is doing.”
