Russell Brand Just Shaded Ex-Wife Katy Perry After Her Breakup With Orlando Bloom: ‘Funny Thing Is… ‘
Russell Brand has much to say about Katy Perry on his podcast amid her split with Orlando Bloom. The comedian discussed Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space company on his podcast, which his ex took part in.
“Jeff Bezos loves launching phallic rockets into space—sometimes with his now-wife, along with my ex-spouse,” Brand posted on X. “Funny thing is, back in the day, Katy Perry once bought me a ticket to space. Imagine the subtext there.” Perry was involved in the first all-female Blue Origin space flight, which took a crew of six women, including Láuren Sanchez and Gayle King, up to space for six minutes.
Brand notoriously ended his marriage with Perry via text on New Year’s Eve. The exchange was documented in Perry’s documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me. He said in a statement, per People: “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends. In a Howard Stern Interview, he talked about the end of the marriage. “She’s young, successful, and dedicated,” he said. “You can’t fully understand it until you do it. I was really into the idea of marriage and having children.”

Brand’s post comes days after Perry and her ex-boyfriend Orlando Bloom confirmed they had broken up. “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the statement from their reps read. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter [Daisy Dove, 4½] with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
Bloom had attended Bezos and Sánchez’s wedding solo since Perry was in the middle of her Lifetimes tour in Australia. Sources told the Daily Mail that Perry wasn’t particularly happy with her ex going. “Katy feels like they’re really her friends more than his, and yet he’s the one going to the wedding,” the insider said. “And he’s insistent that he goes, which annoys her because he’s not particularly close to either of them. She feels like it’s a ‘f—k you’ to her from him.”
Photos obtained by TMZ showed the ex-couple co-parenting their daughter Daisy Dove on Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s yacht days after the nuptials.
Brand was recently charged with one count of rape, one of indecent assault, one of oral rape and two of sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police. He pleaded not guilty. The hearing is set to take place in May 2026.
