The news about the British royal family has been mostly positive, as of late. King Charles is still ill, but even though he’s still receiving treatment, there are reports that he won’t die of cancer. Kate Middleton is making more public appearances after her recovery from her own form of cancer. And it seems like King Charles and his youngest son, Prince Harry, might actually reconcile. In fact, the one question lately has been, where does that leave Prince William?
Last week, King Charles and Prince Harry’s senior aides held a secret meeting, according to The Mail on Sunday, which was believed to be the first big step towards resolving the feud between them. “There’s a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years,” said a source. “There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about.”

Curiously, there was no representative from Prince William and Kate Middleton in the talks, and reports indicate the two are approaching the possible reconciliation carefully. A friend of the two told the Daily Mail, “It’s no coincidence that William and Catherine did not have a representative at the Royal Over-Seas League. They were not asked to send anyone, and will be treating the talks with extreme caution. The fact that it ended up in the newspapers tells you all you need to know.”
This comes as The Daily Beast reported that, according to a friend of William, “He absolutely f—ing hates” his brother Harry. That same source told the outlet that, “William will never, ever forgive Harry for what he has done. Charles is the king; he can do what he likes. But make no mistake: William believes with every fiber of his being that giving Harry and Meghan back any royal imprimatur is a huge mistake.”
However, according to reports, no one is happy that the first step towards reconciliation ended up in the newspapers. According to The Telegraph, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “understood to be frustrated,” with sources close to the couple being clear that they were “not responsible” for the leak, and understand that this is “not an ideal way” to start a possible reconciliation.
The outlet also reported that the leak “jeopardized the fragile peace operation” and created even more “suspicion and distrust on both sides,” which is something nobody wants.
Just a few months ago, Prince Harry said in a BBC interview that he wanted reconciliation. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” he said. “Life is precious. Forgiveness is 100 percent a possibility because I would like to get my father and brother back.”
Recent reports indicate King Charles and Prince Harry are closer than they’ve been in a long time to fixing their relationship. Prince Harry is reportedly inviting his family to the next Invictus Games, which are set to be held in the UK in 2027. Plus, there are reports that the King has factored not only Prince Harry but Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, into the heart of his funeral plans.
But when it comes to Prince William, it seems like he’s taking a wait-and-see approach to a possible reconciliation with his brother.
