Celebrity couples are always subjected to a great deal of scrutiny. When it comes to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it feels like that scrutiny is magnified tenfold because of the royalty angle. And though the British royal family has a lot of drama going on, including King Charles’ illness and the reports that he and Prince Harry are trying to patch up their feud, it seems like there’s always time to speculate about the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The latest round of speculation came as Prince Harry set out on a tour of Angola, undertaken with the purpose of keeping Princess Diana’s memory alive by continuing her humanitarian work, sans Meghan Markle. Harry is trying to raise awareness for Angola’s war recovery with the Halo Trust by recreating the walk that Princess Diana took across an Angola minefield in 1997. The Prince previously did this in 2019 and 2024, as well, and has called continuing his mother’s work in the region a “responsibility” he takes seriously.

But why is Markle not with Harry? According to the Daily Mail, ongoing security concerns contributed to Prince Harry visiting Angola by himself. “The Duke won’t let his wife go to England over security concerns, so there was no chance he’d allow her to go to Angola to walk across landmines,” a source said.

Despite the fact that his wife and kids did not accompany him, Prince Harry previously told The Telegraph that his son, Prince Archie, has asked about his work in Angola, and asked to see footage of Princess Diana’s iconic walk. “Archie was asking about landmines, so I was talking about how some of these guys were blown up,” Harry told the outlet.

“Interestingly, it gave me a chance to talk about my mum, his grandma, which I didn’t even really consider, so that became the outcome of the story for him,” he added, sharing that Archie “wanted to see videos and photographs of his Grandma Diana out doing her thing for landmines all those years ago. It produced a very interesting conversation between me and him, different to what I thought it would be.”

Recent reports suggested the two were under a great deal of stress as they negotiated a new deal with Netflix. “Everyone can see, with the stress of everything, that there are cracks starting to show,” reports said. And those reports even indicated Netflix wanted first dibs on an interview if the two ever got divorced. “They know Harry and Meghan are under pressure and all the cards are on the table – from a divorce chat being locked in, in advance, to introducing their kids to the world.”

Those close to Harry and Meghan Markle, however, say the two are not likely to divorce, as they lose too much by doing so, but the discussions have sparked “all kinds of tense conversations.”

Just a few months ago, Markle addressed divorce rumors during an episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show. “He’s such a great partner. I feel that every day in how supportive he’s been,” she said about Harry, adding that, “That man loves me so much and, you know, look what we’ve built. We’ve built a beautiful life, and we have two healthy, beautiful children.”

She even went on to suggest their relationship was better than ever.  “You have to imagine, at the beginning, everyone has butterflies, and then we immediately went into the trenches together right out of the gate, six months into dating,” she said. “So now, seven years later when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way, and that’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period for us now.”

So, even though Meghan Markle might not be with Prince Harry on his latest trip, it looks like their relationship is doing good.
