Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos just got married. And not only did they get married, they did so in the kind of wedding people talk about for a while. Celebrities like the Kardashians, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Oprah attended. It was a multi-day event in Venice. And even people who did not attend, like Charlize Theron and Mariah Carey, talked about the wedding and whether they were invited or not.
Someone who did attend was actress Sydney Sweeney. At the time, the fact that she was there came out a little out of left field, as she’d previously been known to have to no connection to the couple. People at the time figured she’d been cast in a new Amazon Studios movie, and left it at that. Of course, when a few days ago it was announced that Sweeney was launching a line of lingerie with an investment from Coatue, a private equity fund fueled by Bezos and Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell, it all made sense.

“This has been a huge project for her and something she’s been working on for the last year,” an insider shared with US Weekly. The intention of the release is to be a competitor to Victoria’s Secret.
But what’s Lauren Sanchez’s response to this connection? It apparently caught her off guard. According to gossip journalist Rob Shuter, “Sydney’s not that close with Jeff or Lauren,” a source said. “But she got invited to their Venice wedding for a reason — business.” Leave it to billionaires to make everything about that.
“She’s smart,” a source close to Sweeney explained. “She knows sex sells, and she’s not just modeling it — she’s running it.”
And Sanchez is reportedly not pleased about her new husband’s involvement. “There’s definitely some tension,” an insider claimed. “Lauren didn’t realize just how involved Jeff was in this. It’s… awkward.”
This all comes after reports Bezos is going all out for his new bride, with The Daily Mail reporting that Bezos might be looking to buy Vogue Magazine for her. Or, to be more precise, the entire Condé Nast. Sanchez is a former journalist. The rumors can be traced to the fact that Sánchez is this month’s digital Vogue cover star, wearing a Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown hand-picked by Anna Wintour herself.
But that’s not all, as the Daily Mail reported that, “The rumour that Jeff is going to buy Condé Nast is all anyone’s talking about in the fashion industry and inside Vogue,” adding, “Lauren Sanchez is such an unlikely cover star, and the word is that she landed the July issue partly because the Newhouse family want to butter up Bezos. In New York they’re slimming down the business which is exactly what companies do before a sale.”
Anna Wintour is also said to be directly involved in the possible sale. “Anna is said to be the one brokering the deal so that’s why Lauren was put on the cover. Anna has equity in the business so has a lot to gain from a sale.”
Whether Bezos ends up getting Sanchez her own business to run while he continues to work on his will be something to keep an eye on.
