There’s been a big update on whether King Charles and his son Prince Harry will be reconciling soon. The father and son are one step closer to talking again, but is the whole family involved?
King Charles and Prince Harry’s senior aides held a secret meeting, according to The Mail on Sunday. According to The Sun, it was Harry who gave his press reps, Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, the green light to meet with the cancer-stricken king’s secretary, Tobyn Andreae.
Harry is plotting a return to the UK in September for the annual WellChild Awards. Some outlets have reported that his trip could spur the prospect of a potential meeting between the pair. However, The Sun also reports that the Duke of Sussex doesn’t have a plan to meet up with his brother.
As for who is a proponent of the reconciliation, it’s none other than Meghan Markle herself. A source told NewsNation that the Duchess “realizes she miscalculated when she orchestrated Megxit and then basically smeared the Royal family in the Oprah Winfrey interview and the Netflix docuseries.”
However, there are still some hurdles to overcome. ”The royal family does not need Harry or Meghan,” the insider said. “But Harry and Meghan need the royal family… they are only valuable individually if they are tied to the royal family. Being ‘Royal’ translates to money and deals for them. If [Harry and Meghan] are cast aside, they have no value.”
The source continued, “Regardless of what’s happening, there does need to be an open channel of communication between the two households, but there is a lack of trust. Whether and how that is repaired is the problem.”
Prince Harry said in a BBC interview that he wanted reconciliation. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” he said. “Life is precious. Forgiveness is 100 percent a possibility because I would like to get my father and brother back.”
However, the bad blood between the brothers still continues to thrive. A friend of the two told the Daily Mail, “It’s no coincidence that William and Catherine did not have a representative at the Royal Over-Seas League. They were not asked to send anyone, and will be treating the talks with extreme caution. The fact that it ended up in the newspapers tells you all you need to know.”
Another source said that Prince William, “absolutely f—ing hates” his brother Harry. That same source told the outlet that, “William will never, ever forgive Harry for what he has done. Charles is the king; he can do what he likes. But make no mistake: William believes with every fiber of his being that giving Harry and Meghan back any royal imprimatur is a huge mistake.” A senior royal aide also told Rob Shuter, “It’s no coincidence. William found out from the press — and he’s furious.”
