The reports from the British royal family are very encouraging as of late. King Charles is still ill, but reports indicate his cancer is manageable. And the first steps towards a possible reconciliation with his son, Prince Harry, have now been taken. But with Prince William’s aides absent from that first meeting, there have been questions about how the heir to the throne is dealing with the possible reconciliation between his brother and father, and what that means.
In this regard, there seems to be two distinct lines of thinking. Those who believe the King will make the final decision on Prince Harry, and those who think Prince William—who will one day be King—is ultimately calling the shots. Ian Pelham Turner, former royal photographer, told Express US that this could result in a clash between King Charles and Prince William. “In my opinion, the feeling I get is that William is trying to take over the monarchy, and in reality, Charles is saying, ‘I’m the King. Not you.’

“What I mean by taking over the monarchy is that he’s become very forceful in any opinion,” he explained. He also added that recently, there have been rumors that Prince William is “causing issues” and that it has come down to Queen Camilla to encourage her husband to put an end to it.
“I think what is happening at the moment, and it’s just my inkling, there’s nothing I can sort of prove, and say, ‘this is the case,’ but I get the feeling at the moment, that she’s seeing William trying to create issues, and she’s told Charles to stop it.”
Pelham Turner also said that William’s actions come from a desire to prove “that he’s the driving force behind the throne,” something he says is wrong. “I think Charles should be.”

Another royal expert, Pauline Maclaran, co-author of Royal Fever, said Charles wants to be part of Prince Harry’s life. “As a father and quite an emotional man, he is likely to want some sort of reconciliation with his son. So I don’t think William will be calling the shots, although he may advise his father in relation to any intended meeting.”
This conversation comes after The Daily Beast reported that, according to a friend of William, “He absolutely f***ing hates” his brother Harry. That same source told the outlet that. “William will never, ever forgive Harry for what he has done. Charles is the king; he can do what he likes. But make no mistake: William believes with every fiber of his being that giving Harry and Meghan back any royal imprimatur is a huge mistake.”
But for former BBC Royal Correspondent, Jennie Bond, King Charles’s fatherly love might just win out. “In my opinion, it’s a parent’s job to be the bigger person in every family row: to open your arms and say, ‘Well, you behaved pretty badly, but come here and let me give you a hug.’”
“Whether Charles feels ready to do that is very much open to question,” she added. And, of course, the other question is, how will Prince William react if he does?
