Prince Harry Visited His Secret 2nd ‘Mom’ After Reports He Was ‘Devastated’ Meghan Used Diana for a ‘PR Push’

Prince Harry is believed to have visited the country of Botswana after his long trip to Angola. The Duke of Sussex had long ties to the African country, and he reportedly visited one of his close friends whom he considers a mother.
According to Hello! Magazine, Prince Harry might have swung by his second family. “I came here in 1997 or 1998 straight after my mum died, so it was a nice place to get away from it all, “he said. “It’s a sense of escapism – a real sense of purpose… I have some of my closest friends here over the years.” Some of those closest friends include filmmaker Tania ‘TeeJ’ Jenkins and her husband Mike.
He recounted in his memoir Spare, “She and Mike were the first people ever to cherish whatever wildness was still inside me, whatever hadn’t been lost to grief— and paps. They were outraged that others wanted to eliminate this last bit, that others were keen to put me into a cage.”
The Duke shared this one anecdote in his book about how he accidentally slipped out a new nickname for Teej. “One afternoon, as we were all getting ready to go for a walk, Teej started nagging me [and I said] ‘ Okaaay, Mom.’ It just flew out of my mouth. I heard it, and stopped. Teej heard it and stopped. But I didn’t correct myself. Teej looked shocked, but also moved. I was moved as well. Thereafter, I called her Mom all the time. It felt good. For both of us. Though I made a point, always, to call her Mom, rather than Mum. There was only one Mum.”
His trip to Angola was a tribute to his mother’s work, and he walked the same minefield she did in 1997. He said it was a “responsibility” he takes seriously, and this trip to Angola to raise awareness for the country’s war recovery. “Children should never have to live in fear of playing outside or walking to school,” he said. The Halo Trust has cleared 120,000 landmines in Angola that were left over from years of civil war.
As Harry undertook this trip, one person was noticably missing: his wife, Meghan Markle. This is particularly noticeable considering it comes after reports indicated Harry wasn’t very pleased that his wife, As Ever, brand released their first rosé on July 1, which is also Princess Diana’s birthday.
“He told her, ‘Please, not on Mummy’s birthday,’” Rob Shuter reported. “It wasn’t about business — it was about respect.” But Markle, reportedly, did not budge. “He’s devastated,” a source confirmed to the gossip Substack. “That day means everything to him. To see it turned into a PR push hurts.”
According to the Daily Mail, Meghan Markle‘s absence had nothing to do with the wine. Instead, he didn’t allow her to go because of security issues. “The Duke won’t let his wife go to England over security concerns, so there was no chance he’d allow her to go to Angola to walk across landmines,” a source said.
Though Harry made it a point to bring up his family in his charity work. The Invictus Games founder previously told The Telegraph that Archie asked not just about his work in Angola, but requested to see footage of Princess Diana’s walk. “Archie was asking about landmines, so I was talking about how some of these guys were blown up,” Harry told the outlet.
“Interestingly, it gave me a chance to talk about my mum, his grandma, which I didn’t even really consider, so that became the outcome of the story for him,” he added, sharing that Archie “wanted to see videos and photographs of his Grandma Diana out doing her thing for landmines all those years ago. It produced a very interesting conversation between me and him, different to what I thought it would be.”
