Meghan Markle‘s ex-best friend Jessica Mulroney is no longer with her husband Ben Mulroney. The Canadian socialite used to be in Markle’s inner circles, but has since moved on.

Sources told Page Six that Jessica has been split from her husband, who is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, “some time ago.” “They’re split,” a Canadian source told the gossip site, “Jessica seemed sad, but also relieved to have some clarity.”

The pair were married in 2008 after they dated for eight months. They share twin sons, Brian and John, who were born in August 2010, followed by daughter Isabel in June 2013. Their kids played major roles in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding when Brian and John served as page boys and Isabel was a bridesmaid.

The couple celebrated their anniversary in November 2024, but forgot some key details. “OK so our wedding anniversary was a slight oversight this year ( ie… we forgot),” she wrote on Instagram. “But the love all year round makes up for it. Which reminds me, how many years has it been @benmulroney? I feel lucky everyday so what’s a number?”

TORONTO, ON - MARCH 22: Jessica Mulroney and actress Meghan Markle attend the World Vision event held at Lumas Gallery on March 22, 2016 in Toronto, Canada.

Jessica came under fire after Canadian social media influencer Sasha Exeter exposed her for racist behavior in the height of the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. “During the span of about a week or so, Jessica basically ticked every single box of what a white woman should absolutely not do during the biggest racial uproar in history, citing that this wasn’t really a problem that she wanted to share on her social channels, excuses that she would be bullied or vilified by the public media if she did so,” Exeter said in a video.

She continued, “Claimed her show was more important to promote because it was going into, I believe, the season finale, and because after all, this is her job, and get this, ‘they matter too.’ She tried to use my one piece of sponsored content as her get out of jail free card because I think she felt that put us on the same playing field after she spent the first entire week of this crisis promoting her TV show with like, no mention of show of support or solidarity, like at all.” Jessica’s show was later pulled by CTV after she threatened Exeter to be silenced.

Mulroney told Page Six in November 2020, “I still feel a lot of shame. I feel that people believe the worst in me.” In a public apology, she seemingly referred to the Duchess of Sussex, “As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre. It was deeply educational. I learned a lot from that. I promise to continue to learn and listen on how I can use my privilege to elevate and support Black voices.”

Meghan and Jessica are believed to not be on speaking terms after the incident, with one source claiming to Us Weekly that her longtime friend’s behavior was “hugely offensive” to her. One source told Page Six, “She was upset that she couldn’t get a job after Meghan dumped her. She’s become a toxic socialite.”
