Dozens of fans, friends, and family members gathered at Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral on July 30, but two faces noticeably missing were the Prince of Darkness’ own children: Elliot and Jessica Osbourne.

Ozzy, who died at the age of 76 on July 22, 2025, shared Elliot and Jessica with his first wife, Thelma Riley, whom he was married to from 1982 to 1971. Jessica was born in 1979, while Ozzy adopted Elliot, whom Thelma had from a previous relationship, when Elliot was five years old. Ozzy and Thelma also shared son Louis, who did attend his funeral. His other three children—Aimee, Kelly, and Jack—were also in attendance at his funeral, which was held at Ozzy’s hometown of Birmingham, England. Ozzy shared Aimee, Kelly, and Jack with his second wife, Sharon Osbourne, who was also at his funeral.

As for why Jessica and Elliot didn’t attend Ozzy’s funeral, the two have had a complicated relationship with their father. In Ozzy’s 2010 biography, I Am Ozzy , the Black Sabbath member called his marriage to Jessica and Elliot’s mother a “terrible mistake.” He also admitted in his 2011 documentary God Bless Ozzy Osbourne that he didn’t even remember Jessica or Louis’ birth.

In the documentary, Jessica also opened up about her father’s absence during her childhood. “My recollection from my childhood with dad is that he’d be away for very long periods of time, and there’d always be a period of adjustment when he came home, and then it’d get to normality and then he’d go again. So, it was a very erratic childhood with dad,” she said.

Jessica and Elliot were also noticeably left out of the Osbourne family’s statement on July 22 announcing Ozzy’s death. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time,” read the statement, which was only signed off by five members of the Osbourne family: Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.

While most of Ozzy’s kids who attended his funeral had a good relationship leading up to his death, Aimee’s attendance came as a surprise to most fans, considering her past troubled relationship with the family. “For me, I had grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and I always really valued my privacy within that family,” Aimee told New York’s Q104.3 radio station in 2020. “And for me personally, and for who I am, you know, as far as morally and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager, it didn’t really line up with what I saw my future as.”

She continued, “It definitely worked great for the rest of my family. But for me and who I am, I just knew it was never something that I would have been able to consider realistically.”
