Travis Kelce’s Family Suffers Devastating Loss: ‘Left a Lasting Impression… ‘

The Kelces have lost a loved one near and dear to their hearts. Travis and Jason Kelce’s father Ed Kelce‘s girlfriend, Maureen Maguire, has died.
Ed, who divorced Jason and Travis’ mother Donna around 2013, announced the news in a Facebook post on August 2, 2025, with a link to Maureen’s obituary. The obituary, which is from Stretch Funeral Home in the suburbs of Philadelphia, also confirmed that Maureen died on August 1, 2025, a day before Ed announced the news.
While the obituary didn’t list a cause of death, it noted that Maureen “passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.” It also described her as a “devoted mother” with “impeccable taste.”
The obituary also described Ed as Maureen’s “beloved friend” and detailed how Maureen became interested in football later in life after her relationship with Ed. “She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch,” the obituary read. “Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.”
The obituary concluded, “Her kindness, wit, and gentle strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.”
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times in 2024, Ed shared a funny story about the first time Maureen and his son Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift, met. During their meeting, Ed and Taylor were posing for a photo when Maureen joked, “Hey, that’s my boyfriend,” to which Taylor laughed.
Ed also revealed in an interview with Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan in January 2024 that, when Ed couldn’t recall Taylor’s name during an early interaction with her at Travis’ house, Maureen had to remind him of who she was. “When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to go to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there,” Ed said, speculating that there could’ve been 20 people at the house. “They have a shuttle that comes and picks everybody up and takes them to the game.”
While Ed confirmed that he’s met many of Travis’ friends, he “cannot for the life of me picture, remember who they are.”He continued, “And Taylor comes in, walks in with a security guard and I look at her … and I had my girlfriend with me and I mention to Maureen, ‘Oh, my God, I know this kid but I don’t know what her name is.’ Geez, you know, like a real idiot.”
Maureen then told him, “‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.’”
Maureen is survived by three children, six grandchildren, her brother John, and her sister Loretta. According to the obituary, her family asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Penn Heart Transplant Fund. Her funeral will be held on August 7, 2025, at St John Vianney Church in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania.
