After months of speculation, Kelly Clarkson finally revealed the real reason she’s been missing episodes of her talk show and her concerts.
In an Instagram post on August 6, 2025, Clarkson announced that she had to postpone the August 2025 dates of her Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas, Nevada, to care for her kids—daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander—amid her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock‘s illness. “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” she wrote. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
She continued, “I’m sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Clarkson and Blackstock were married from 2013 to 2022. Clarkson’s residency, which is held at The Colosseum at the Caesars Palace hotel in Paradise, Nevada, was set to run for four dates in August 2025. The residency is scheduled to end on November 15. Clarkson also previously canceled two dates in July 2025, citing vocal preservation. “We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” she wrote in an Instagram post July 4 hours before she was set to perform. “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”

She continued, “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
“Clarkson first sparked health concerns in March 2025 when she unexpectedly missed a taping of her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and had actor Simu Liu, who was supposed to be a guest on that episode, step in as host. “Kelly isn’t able to make it today. We’re sending her our very best,” he told the audience at the time. “I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived to promote my new movie Last Breath.” He continued, “I’m here now, and look, I’m not one to back down from a challenge.”
She also missed several more episodes that month and was replaced by celebrity guests like Roy Wood Jr., Wanda Sykes, Josh Groban, Willie Geist, Brooke Shields, Molly Sims, Kal Penn, Andy Cohen, Tyler Perry, and Ellen Pompeo.
Amid concern over her health, TMZ reported at the time that Clarkson was missing from her talk show due to a personal matter that didn’t directly involve her, which seems to correlate to her post about Blackstock’s illness. TMZ also confirmed at the time that Clarkson’s health was fine.
