The wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez was one of the social events of the year, with a who’s who of celebrities attending, from Oprah to Leonardo DiCaprio and the Kardashians. But one particular name that didn’t attend Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding and that people were expecting to be present was US President Donald Trump.

However, Trump was indeed invited to the wedding. White House officials confirmed to The Wall Street Journal in June 2025 that Trump was invited to the Amazon founder’s wedding, however, he was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts. When you’re the President of the United States, you’ve got a lot of things to do every single day and taking a few days off to go to Venice for a wedding isn’t exactly possible.

However, it seems like Trump and Bezos’ relationship is just fine. Trump is said to be looking to relax environmental rules for commercial spaceship companies, something that will specifically benefit Bezos and Elon Musk, as well. The President signed an executive order titled “Enabling Competition in the Commercial Space Industry” and said it’s of the outmost importance to national security that the private rocket-ship industry find a way to increase launches “substantially” by 2030.

But how can they do that? Well, it seems like they might be able to forgo the environmental reviews required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to obtain launch permits. This would considerably cut down on the timeframe for those companies, and Bezos’ Blue Origin and Elon Musk’s Space X would be the main beneficiaries of such shortened timeframes.

Sean Duffy, the US secretary of transportation, referred to Trump’s executive order as “visionary.”

This all comes after Bezos has reportedly been courting Trump in a push for more government contracts. According to The Wall Street Journal Blue Origin CEO David Limp visited Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, at the White House the month of the Amazon founder’s wedding and the outlet also reported that Bezos “really” wanted to host Trump at his wedding as a “charm offensive” that might earn him more government contracts.

Trump and Bezos didn’t always get along. During Trump’s first presidency he criticized Bezos, referring to him as “Jeff Bozo.” However, Bezos donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund the second time around, and attend his Inauguration, sitting alongside Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, in what was called the “billionaires’ row.”

Someone who did attend the Bezos’ wedding was Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. However, the wedding was also attended by a lot of A-listers who were vocally anti Trump, which might have played a part in his decision not to attend.

Either way, it’s clear that even though Bezos wasn’t able to host Trump at his wedding and impress him, the relationship between the two is just fine. In fact, it’s more than fine. It’s so good that flights to space might become commonplace sooner than anyone could have foreseen. That Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez Blue Origin flight was only the beginning, for better or worse.
