Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom’s Relationship ‘Strained’ Amid Reports Orlando ‘Humiliated’ Katy Over Justin Trudeau Romance
Breakups aren’t easy. Remaining cordial after, especially when there are children in common, is a great challenge. And yet co-parenting has become more and more normal, and a lot of couples manage to get along and still remain part of each other’s lives even after a contentious separation. Whether that ends up being the case for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom remains to be seen. Right now, it seems like things are not going great between the former couple.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that things between the exes were tense. According to the source, things “still aren’t great” and “their relationship is a bit awkward and strained.” Meanwhile, her new relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to be going well. “They’re just having fun and getting to know each other,” the insider said. “Justin is charismatic and has great energy which is exactly what Katy needs at the moment. For now, things are just casual.”

This all comes after a source told OK! UK that Perry feels “humiliated” after Bloom made a comment that could be taken as a dig at her new romance with Justin Trudeau. Perry and Trudeau were first seen on a date at the restaurant Le Violon in Montreal, Canada, in July, with Trudeau later attending Perry’s concert in Montreal.
A few days later, Bloom seemed to take a dig at his ex and her new love by commenting on an Onion article of him and Angela Merkel at a candle-lit dinner. The joke was that, according to an “insider,” the two were dating. Bloom responded to the post with clapping emojis. But Perry was not laughing.
“Katy feels very let down and humiliated by Orlando, but she’s also realising that he wasn’t the right person for her. He’s showing his true colours and it’s really very hurtful and spiteful to her, especially as it probably means the end of any possible friendship with him in future,” the insider said. “She hoped they’d both be mature after the break-up so she’s feeling really disappointed.”
The couple announced their split after nine years together in June 2025. They share one child, Daisy Dove Bloom, who is four. “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry ’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” their statement about the breakup read. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
However, Bloom attending Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding solo and Perry’s new romance seem to have put a strain on the relationship. And not all is well with Trudeau, either. A source told The Sun in July 2025 that Perry has been warned about Trudeau’s “womanizer reputation.” The source added, “Katy’s friends want her to have fun after her split from Orlando, but she’s still very much grieving the end of their relationship and the fact that she never made it down the aisle,” the source explained. “They don’t want her to rush into something serious, and have heard Justin has a bit of a reputation as a womanizer, and that he loves the fame game.”
Whether things work out with Trudeau or not, Perry will likely have to find a way for things to be at least cordial with Bloom, for the sake of their kid.
