Katy Perry & Justin Trudeau’s Romance Takes Dramatic Turn After Report She Was ‘Humiliated’ by Orlando Bloom’s Joke About Her New Man

For those of you who don’t remember, Perry was recently seen dining with Trudeau in Canada, and he was later seen attending one of her concerts in Montreal, not long after the singer split from her longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Well, things have reportedly already “cooled off” due to their busy schedules and Trudeau being uncomfortable with the spotlight that comes with dating someone of Perry’s profile. Ironic, considering it’s not like he didn’t know before he went on that date with Perry. The Daily Mail reported Monday that their communication has “waned in the past two weeks.”

“She’s busy, he’s busy,” an insider told the outlet. They apparently texted “nonstop” in July. But “they have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off.” However, there doesn’t seem to be any hard feelings about it. “There’s nothing negative about it,” the insider added. “They just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it is what it is. It has cooled off.”
Trudeau was reportedly not pleased with the attention his date with Perry got. “I know for a fact that Justin wasn’t thrilled about the pictures getting out,” the source said. “It was a first date. A first date! And these pictures came out and it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted.”
The source added he was “not prepared” for all the attention. “It can be a lot and it can be overwhelming,” the source explained. “They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” a source had previously told People. “She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada.”
Right now, the two are reportedly just friends. “She isn’t ready to start dating anyone right now, she has to continue to focus on her healing from separating from Orlando,” the source said.
In fact, the relationship between the two exes is said to be “not great” and described as “a bit awkward and strained,” according to Entertainment Tonight. It gets worse, OK! UK reportedly recently reported that Perry felt “humiliated” after Bloom threw shade at her romance with Justin Trudeau by responding to an Onion article claiming there was now something going on between him and Angela Merkel with clapping emojis.
“Katy feels very let down and humiliated by Orlando, but she’s also realising that he wasn’t the right person for her. He’s showing his true colours and it’s really very hurtful and spiteful to her, especially as it probably means the end of any possible friendship with him in future,” the insider said. “She hoped they’d both be mature after the break-up so she’s feeling really disappointed.”
Perry and Bloom split after nine years together in June 2025. They share one child, four-year-old Daisy Dove Bloom.
