King Charles and Prince Harry are moving towards a reconciliation. Despite the fact that the two are reportedly not on speaking terms, Prince Harry said on a BCC interview earlier this year, “I would love reconciliation with my family,” adding that, “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious.” After that, senior aides for the two met, and things are reportedly moving forward. However, this doesn’t seem to include William, despite Harry’s stated desire to reconcile with his brother, as well.

And according to some sources, the problem is Meghan Markle. Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of “My Mother and I,” claimed to Fox News Digital that William is having trouble taking that final step because of Markle. “The flea in the ointment really is very much Meghan,” Seward said.

“She’s disliked intensely by a large number of the monarchists of this country. They see her as being very… damaging to the royal family. And also, I think a lot of people in America feel the same. They don’t like that Meghan [reportedly] dissed her husband’s family and dissed her own family.”

“It’s just extraordinary to think that her children have not met their grandfather,” Seward shared, referring to Thomas Markle. “I think people in the States find that extremely odd, and [we] find it very odd here. And I think that’s a real black mark against Meghan’s character. I think she hasn’t been able to embrace… her own family, however much she feels about them. I mean, Harry’s never even met her father, which is extraordinary.”

British royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that many in the U.K. have “an unfavorable” view of Markle. “Persistent lack of trust is the main reason why senior royals remain reluctant to engage in reconciliation efforts,” she explained. “Their concerns are well-founded, that any private family discussions could become public or be used for commercial projects… [Meghan]… has no sense of duty toward the British public nor the institution.”

This comes after People said William and Harry are “on separate paths” with no communication between them. “The rift is very profound and very long-lasting,” Robert Lacey, author of Battle of Brothers, told the outlet. “It will not be changed, in my opinion, until Harry makes a move and apologizes.”

However, a recent report by Parade indicates concerns about King Charles’ health might end up bringing the brothers closer. “King Charles really isn’t doing well,” the insider said about the King, adding that his health has been “deteriorating more.”

“It wouldn’t be surprising if William and Harry reconnected a bit more over this,” the source added. “This could be the thing that pushes it to happen.”

Considering how close William and Harry were after they lost their mother, it stands to reason that the possibility of losing their father would bring them closer together, whatever other issues they might have. And, with Harry and Charles closer to reconciliation, this does seem like the perfect time for the brothers to find a way to bridge the gap, too. Whether that ends up happening or not, we will have to wait and see.
