Talk about awkward… Today Hosts and besties Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager just brought up a problem that’s been brewing up in their friendship on live TV.

On the Aug. 20 episode of the NBC morning show, Guthrie recounted her wedding to Michael Feldman in 2014. In one moment, Bush Hager brought up that she “wasn’t invited” to the wedding to which Guthrie side-eyed her. “She claims we weren’t friends,” the host interjected.

Savannah responded, “No, we were friends, but it was a small wedding—we can’t do this again.”

“We did know each other, but we didn’t know each other well,” she recalled. “If I’d have known that you would become one of my lifelong best friends, then I would have invited you. But I didn’t know that.”

Guthrie addressed that they’ve had their “beefs” over the years, but she’s grateful for where their relationship is now. “Listen, if we were married today,” the 53-year-old said, “we would be each other’s bridesmaids.”

Guthrie did attend Bush Hager’s wedding to Henry Hager in 2008, but she wasn’t an invited guest. Guthrie was reporting for NBC about the nuptials.

The two Today hosts have been with each other through thick and thin and have been extremely close since Hager Bush began her tenure. “I knew nothing about Savannah Guthrie before she sat down next to me in the makeup chair five years ago,” Bush Hager penned in an essay about their friendship. “I knew nothing about her, even though we had overlapped in Washington, D.C. for several years, knew some of the same people and had even been in the same room at the same time.”

She continued, “But after five years working alongside her — and living next to her (yes, we are next door neighbors in New York City), I now know a lot about Savannah.”

It’s all water under the bridge now, and the two have a strong friendship that’ll last for eternity. Guthrie and Hager Bush go to church together and they’re both godmothers to each other’s childrens.
