Drama doesn’t really change all that much for the British royal family, apparently. Despite a recent biography about Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson titled Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York by Andrew Lownie providing details about not just his extra-marital affairs, but also his friendship with disgraced pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the King’s brother has joined King Charles at Balmoral for the Royal Family’s annual summer break.
The Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson are said to be staying at Craigowan Lodge, a seven-bedroom property half a mile from the King’s residence. The couple’s two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, along with their families, are expected to visit in the coming days.

An insider told The Sun about it, “The Balmoral invitation is a huge show of support.” The annual Balmoral gathering is one of only two times a year the entire family meets up. The other time is Christmas. The fact that Prince Andrew was invited so soon after the entire controversy surrounding the biography and so many rumors involving both Prince William and Prince Harry sends a big message of support from his big brother.
But the other big thing that seems to be going unnoticed is the fact that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson showed up together after the revelations from the boo emergedk. Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York provides quite a picture of their marriage, including revelations that Andrew slept with “more than a dozen women” in the first year of their marriage, and that Ferguson quickly realized she was destined to be a “shore widow” and it “really hurt.” This is reportedly the reason she soon began having affairs of their own, and their marriage was soon doomed.
The book also explains that at the time, Prince Andrew was away at sea 250 days a year and didn’t really see much of his family. This included Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who barely knew their father. He and the Duchess of York separated in 1992 and finally divorced in 1996.
The book by Lownie also details vicious arguments between the Duke and Duchess of York that the author says “bordered on domestic violence,” and describes Andrew as someone who wasn’t interested in family life. “Andrew’s idea of a good time on a beautiful sunny day was to sit in the house and watch golf on the television. His dinner would be placed in front of him so he could continue watching TV, and then he would go to bed,” the book recounts.
Most of the revelations from the biography were indeed things they would have already known about each other. And the pair had already divorced each other, so at one point, these were problems that caused a rift in their marriage and bad enough to lead to divorce. But there has been a reconciliation, of sorts, to the point that the two are now living together.
So, perhaps it is not surprising that at this point these issues are all water under the bridge for the two. It’s hard to tell if the reconciliation has been romantic or if Andrew and Fergie are just really good friends who happen to live together these days, but it’s clear that at this point, they pretty much have each other’s backs in a way that they didn’t even during their marriage. Ironic, isn’t it?
