Family disputes are always complicated. Particularly when you’re caught in the middle. That holds true even for the British royal family. In fact, they might be even more complicated because their family drama gets reported on over and over. And with the latest bombshell revelations about Prince Andrew, the relationship between the controversial Prince and his older brother, King Charles, has recently been scrutinized. Do they get along? And almost as importantly, do Prince Andrew and his nephew, Prince William, get along?

It seems like the answers are very, very different.

Despite Prince Andrew being on the news due to the revelations contained in the biography Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York  by Andrew Lownie, both he and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, have joined the royal family at Balmoral for their annual summer break. The Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson are reportedly staying at Craigowan Lodge, a property half a mile from the King’s residence. Their two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, along with their families, are expected to join them soon.

An insider told The Sun, “The Balmoral invitation is a huge show of support.” Indeed, the royal family only comes together two times a year, during summer, at Balmoral, and during Christmas, so the fact that Andrew was invited and was invited just as the newspapers were very much reporting on the revelations from the autobiography is telling on King Charles’ part.

But recent reports about Prince William indicate he and his father are not on the same page about Andrew. According to Rob Shuter, Prince William has cut off “all contact” with his uncle. Not just that, a source told the gossip columnist that William “doesn’t want” Andrew “anywhere near his children.” That means he probably wasn’t all too pleased with the Balmoral invitation. Oops.

“William doesn’t want Jeffrey Epstein’s best friend anywhere near his children,” one royal insider revealed.

The new biography on Prince Andrew dedicates an entire chapter to Prince Andrew’s friendship with Epstein. It also indicates that the rift between Andrew and William can be traced back to the fact that Prince Andrew said “rude” and “unkind” things about Kate Middleton.

But that’s not all, The Telegraph recently reported that William understands “something still needs to be done” with Prince Andrew, and is prepared to take extreme measures with him, including banning him from his coronation, removing his Order of the Garter, and stripping him of his “Prince” title.

Royal biographer Christopher Wilson told the publication, “I think to a large extent Charles has adhered to that as a safe policy—the moment you start tearing the family apart, where does it stop? With William, it will be a different approach—he has hard-nosed ideas about how the Royal family needs to appear in the frenzied social media world we now inhabit, and I think will be ruthless.”

Family drama. Even in royal families, you can’t really escape it.
