It might be the engagement of the century. Travis Kelce just proposed to Taylor Swift, and the Swifties are already at work to find out if there are easter eggs in her announcement.
The “Lover” singer just announced her engagement to Travis Kelce in a joint Instagram post on August 26, 2025. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they captioned the post. It looked like the fairytale engagement we’ve all been waiting for, with Travis popping the question in a garden and Taylor showing off the gorgeous ring. Taylor went all out for the occasion, wearing a striped silk Polo Ralph Lauren dress, her diamond-studded Cartier Santos Demoiselle watch, and her “TNT” friendship bracelet by Wove, which was gifted by Travis during Christmastime.
If you look closely at the caption, it’s a sly reference to her song “So High School” from her album The Tortured Poets Department. In the song, she sings, “Truth, dare, spin bottles / You know how to ball, I know Aristotle / Brand new, full throttle.” Coincidence, we think not.
There are also these lines: “Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me? (Kill me) / It’s just a game, but really (Really) / I’m bettin’ on all three (All three) for us two.” Well, we hope it’s only the first two things, which are definitely manifesting in real time.
Oh, and the whole background is also a sneaky callback to Taylor Swift’s breakout “Love Story.” “So I sneak out to the garden to see you / We keep quiet, ’cause we’re dead if they knew.” And everyone knows how that song ends. She sings, “He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring / And said, “Marry me, Juliet / You’ll never have to be alone / I love you and that’s all I really know.”
Fans also saw that the garden looks eerily similar to the garden she used in her Lover era. “the way this garden is identical to the one from this photo of the lover photoshoot like this is gorgeous,” one fan posted on X.
Taylor also posted the announcement at 1:00 p.m., which is the 13th hour of the day. And as every Swiftie knows, it’s her favorite number.
Despite the hoards of easter eggs that appear on the post, Taylor recently revealed on the New Heights podcast that easter eggs are only for her music. “The art of the Easter egg is, there’s, do’s and don’ts, right?” she said. “Like, I’m never gonna plant an Easter egg that ties back to my personal life. It’s always gonna be towards music or a musical something. I want Easter eggs to be a certain thing where if you are a part of the fandom and you want to experience music in a normal way, you don’t even see these. You don’t even care what that thing is above that doorway in, under that dimly lit, flickering light over there that’s upside down backwards in Braille. You don’t need to know what that is.”
