Taylor Swift & Blake Lively’s Feud Takes Dramatic Turn After the Actress Snubbed the Singer’s Engagement Announcement—They Don’t Talk ‘At All’
The bad blood keeps on going. Blake Lively reportedly hasn’t congratulated her former BFF Taylor Swift on her engagement to Travis Kelce. Sources close to the two stars reveal that they haven’t talked since the contentious legal battle with Justin Baldoni reached an all-time high.
“Blake didn’t reach out [following the engagement announcement] and isn’t going to,” a source told the Daily Mail on August 27. “This isn’t the time. What would be the point of reaching out now? It really makes no sense. [Lively] has bigger fish to fry.”
Swift announced her engagement to the NFL player in a collab post on Instagram on August 26. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the couple captioned the carousel. Several of Taylor’s squad have reacted to the engagement like Selena Gomez and Sabrina Carpenter. “When bestie gets engaged,” the Only Murders in the Building star captioned the engagement photos on her Instagram story.
The Daily Mail source also elaborated that the Gossip Girl actress “doesn’t talk about Taylor at all” since the singer was subpoenaed in Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit in May. The It Ends With Us director later dropped the subpoena as Swift’s rep claimed the subpoena was “designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
Swift was mentioned in the lawsuit after texts from the actress revealed that she had “dragons” who would protect her—referring to Swift and Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds. “I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better,” the actress’s alleged text read. The “Lover” singer “was really hurt” after she was implicated in Lively and Baldoni’s legal case.
“There’s been radio silence between Taylor and Blake since the subpoena was dropped,” a source told Us Weekly. “They won’t pick up where they left off because of all the emotional residue.”
Since then, the friendship reached a stalemate and Lively reportedly isn’t expecting an invite to the wedding of the century. “This is something that we would’ve talked about in the past, like what was going to happen, if she was going to be in the wedding, what that would look like. All of that. But now, it’s just silence,” the Daily Mail source continued. “There’s no ‘will she or won’t she’ about Blake being in the wedding, because she just won’t. She knows that, and I don’t think she particularly wants to talk about that.”
However, it’s not lingering in her mind for long since she’s not “sitting home obsessing about Taylor getting engaged” because “she’s got her own life to focus on.”
