KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - JANUARY 26: Taylor Swift celebrates with Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs after defeating the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on January 26, 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce literally just got engaged, so it feels like speculating about anything else, even their possible wedding, is a little too early. But this is the internet, and the confirmation that they are indeed getting married gives way to curiosity about what comes next. That’s just the way it is when you’re one of the most popular singers in the world and one of the biggest NFL superstars, and you just announced your engagement.

But it’s not just about flights of fancy from fans online, but practicality. Fans recently dug up an old interview from Taylor Swift where she was talking about how she expected to get married when she was around 35. Ironically, Swift is now 35 years old. And though that’s just an arbitrary number for marriage, it does kinda mean Swift has been looking forward to this stage of her life for a while. And now that it’s here, she’s reportedly eager for it to get started.

“They absolutely want a family,” a source told Us Weekly. “Their dream is to have kids.” The source added that the couple might “not wait too long” when it comes to expanding their family. “She’s in a great space in her career and with her success and she can take some time away,” the report says.

Swift has had contradictory things to say about the subject of kids in the past, something a lot of women will relate to. Sometimes, when you’re not with the right person, the whole thing seems daunting. In 2012 she told Marie Claire, according to Taste of Country, while talking about her money, “That money will be really good for sending my kids to college some day — or maybe I’ll have a few more kids than I thought. I want a bunch of them running around, minimum four.”

However, Pop Sugar reported that in 2014, Swift told InStyle, “I don’t know if I’ll have kids,” with her reasoning being, “Inevitably, there will be strange men pointing giant cameras at them from the time they are babies.”

That part hasn’t changed, but perhaps the right partner puts everything in perspective? Swift certainly seems to think so. And so does everyone else around the couple. Even some of Swift’s exes have reacted warmly to the news of Swift’s engagement, and Kelce’s family is over the moon, considering his mom Donna changed her Facebook cover to a picture of the two of them as kids, and his dad gushed about how happy they are together.

Perhaps it was Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, who said it best, in an intro video during their new episode of New Heights. “There is one gigantic piece of new news that just hit the waves,” Jason said in the video, which he recorded solo. “We did record this podcast on Monday, which was Travis’s one day off so he is not here to address this himself, but we felt necessary here as a team on New Heights to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged. The proposal heard ‘round the world, f**k yeah.”

Travis Kelce has made casual comments about his future children on the New Heights podcast, and if there’s one thing we know about listening to it is this: he’s already a great uncle to Jason’s four girls, who absolutely love him. Bodes well for the future, doesn’t it?
