The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce engagement news has been the talk of the internet since it happened. And though people are, of course, focused on the couple, on the engagement ring, and when a wedding might happen, who is going to be invited, and even if the two are looking to start a family soon, people are also interested in the past. And by that, we mean Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s exes, and how they’ve reacted to it all.
Perhaps the one that had people more curious was Swift’s most recent ex, actor Joe Alwyn. However, a source close to Alwyn told the Daily Mail that although he “hopes” for the best for his ex, she won’t be getting a “congratulations” from him. Instead, the insider told the outlet. “Taylor’s engagement is the final nail in the coffin to any thoughts Joe will ever have about her again.”

“Sure, he genuinely hopes she is in a good place and doing well, but he doesn’t think about her anymore on any consistent basis and hasn’t reached out, nor will he, to offer congratulations,” the full quote said, with the source also adding, “he feels that it is not needed, and he feels she wouldn’t want to hear from him anyway.”
The couple dated for six years, from late 2016 to early 2023. And according to ET, the breakup wasn’t all that dramatic. Instead, the relationship “had run its course.” People meanwhile, reported that the two outgrew each other. “They had plenty in common and fell in love in a safe bubble while she was retreating from the world during Reputation,” their source said. “Then the pandemic hit, and they were locked down together and able to continue growing their relationship in this insulated way. But he didn’t really ‘know’ her yet outside of that bubble.”
According to the source at the time of the breakup, “Joe has struggled with Taylor’s level of fame and the attention from the public. The differences in their personalities have also become harder to ignore after years together. They’ve grown apart.”
Taylor Swift’s level of fame and attention from the public has never seemed to be a problem for her new beau, Travis Kelce. Kelce, a superstar NFL TE on his own right, seemed to step right into the spotlight with Swift and enjoy being there with her. The two started dating late in 2023, after Kelce hilariously complained on his New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Jason, about how he was unable to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it during her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City.
As they say, the rest is history.
Swift and Kelce reportedly got engaged a few weeks ago, though they only announced it on a shared Instagram post on August 26. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift and Kelce captioned their joint announcement on Instagram, alongside a lit dynamite emoji.
Right around that time, Swift also announced a new album, The Life of a Showgirl. So, life is pretty busy for the singer. Enough that she probably won’t be paying attention to what her exes have to say about her engagement.
