Prince Harry has been open about his desire to reconcile with his family. Long before aides from King Charles and Harry met, kicking off what seems to be the upcoming meeting, he publicly shared his desire for reconciliation in a BBC interview, “I would love reconciliation with my family,” he said, adding that, “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.”

Everything that has happened since then seems to be building towards that. However, according to celebrity news reporter Rob Shuter, it’s not just a matter of reconciliation. Instead, sources claim Prince Harry has a “list of demands” that reportedly has courtiers “reeling.” And the first thing on that list? The thing that’s been at the top of Prince Harry’s list from the beginning, security.

“Harry doesn’t want another trip where he feels unprotected and exposed. He wants iron-clad guarantees—not vague promises,” an insider said. “Security and privacy are non-negotiable. Harry insists Meghan must be treated as HRH. That means family members must show her the formal respect of bows and curtsies. For William, that’s a hard no.”

Another source indicated that King Charles “wants peace and to see his son, but these demands risk blowing open old wounds.”

This all comes as a meeting between Prince Harry and King Charles is looking closer than ever. The Duke of Sussex is set to be in London on Sept. 8, also the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, for the annual WellChild Awards, with The Mirror reporting that there is “determination on both sides to make [a reunion] happen.”

Of course, the outlet also reports this is only the beginning. “Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry.”

Prince William, however, is said not to be involved in this possible end to the feud. “As for Harry and William, though, any chance of reconciliation between them has been rejected out of hand,” the outlet also reported.

Reportedly, the King’s desire to reconcile with his son has to do with his health. RadarOnline reported that the King’s health has gotten worse.  “He is now shuffling around with a cane – and hitting the bottle, and in particular whisky, to numb the pain and despair he feels.” The outlet described it as “a sad end for him,” with other sources saying “his health has deteriorated significantly in recent months.”

It is this last report that seems to be leaving open the possibility that not just King Charles, but Prince William will finally put aside their differences with Prince Harry. Parade reported recently that the King’s health might push their brothers towards reconciling, even amid all the other issues. “King Charles really isn’t doing well,” the outlet said, and explained that, “It wouldn’t be surprising if William and Harry reconnected a bit more over this.”

“This could be the thing that pushes it to happen,” the insider concluded. Now, let’s see if they can all agree on the finer points of this reconciliation.
