Kamala Harris might not be as in the spotlight these days as she was during the thick of the US Presidential campaign, but a lot of people are still interested in what she’s doing and who she’s talking to. And people are especially interested in who she might not be talking to, or getting along with. This comes after new reports from The Daily Beast that Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff were seen dining at the same restaurant as Barack and Michelle Obama on Martha’s Vineyard recently, but in separate rooms.
Can we draw any conclusions about her relationship with the Obamas based on that? Unlikely, considering the report also indicates one of the couples stopped by to say hello to the other before going to their respective table, so it’s not like they were all avoiding each other. It’s more likely than each of them just wanted to dine with their respective spouse. Another election is still far away, so it’s not like the time to strategize for any possibilities is now.

But it’s hard to blame people if the coincidence made them worry. There have been questions about whether Kamala Harris would run again next election, and who the presumptive nominee would be if she didn’t. The support from the Obamas feels like an important thing for anyone who wants to run for President as a democrat. And so, it’s easy to see things where they aren’t, even with so long to go until another presidential election.
Especially after Democratic megadonor John Morgan recently said on “CUOMO” that former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not want Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee to replace President Joe Biden. However, former President Joe Biden endorsed her very soon after announcing he was stepping down from the presidential race.
“He did not want to go gently,” Morgan said about Biden. “He nominated her, basically Obama did not want her. Obama did not endorse her for five days, Pelosi did not want her.”
In fact, Morgan characterized the endorsement by Biden as a “F you” to Obama and Pelosi. “I think it was to say, F you to Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama and every representative that was pushing him out… and I think he was pissed,” he explained.
These reports have been part of the narrative from the beginning, as has been another idea Morgan brought up, surrounding the fact that there was no real primary involving Harris since Biden retired so late into the campaign. “Pelosi told her California delegation, there will be a conference, there will be a caucus, there will be a convention,” Morgan said. “We basically ran on this deal where ‘democracy, democracy!’ And then we didn’t have democracy in picking our nominee.”
Right now, though, despite all the reports and the criticism, it’s hard to know what will happen in 2028 and who will be willing to support whom. Right now, people are probably just trying to have a quiet dinner, without thinking of politics.
