She might be going back to the basics. Kate Middleton just seemingly dyed her hair again after she was accused of wearing a blonde wig.
The Princess of Wales debuted a brunette look at the Women’s Rugby World Cup where she watched the match between England and Australia on Saturday, Sept. 6. She wore her signature curls in a half-up, half-down do and wore a white shirt under a black blazer. She sported the same hair color when she was visiting the National Federation of Women’s Institute (WI) on Sept. 8

The outing comes days after she publicly debuted a new blonde look when she appeared with Prince William at the Natural History Museum’s newly transformed gardens on Sept. 4. It marked the first time she’s colored her hair as a working royal.
After the haur transformation, Kate was the subject of many hateful comments, and some people accused her of wearing a wig. “Are we supposed to believe this is Kate’s ‘natural hair’⁉️ — call me crazy, but this looks like a #Wig to me‼️🤷🏻♀️🔍🔍🔍🤭,” one person wrote on X. Other people wrote their thoughts on the matter, “I hope this is a wig because Kate Middleton’s new look is just plain awful.”
Princess Diana’s former hairstylist, Sam McKnight, responded to the “evil” comments on Instagram. He said he was “shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted” by the comments, adding, “A woman’s hair is very personal to her, its armour, defence, confidence and so much more.”

“She has brilliantly and quietly, unselfishly represented our country, the soft power we still have as a nation,” he added. “Cancer affects individuals differently, but is life changing for everyone. So FFS LEAVE HER ALONE. SHAME ON YOU.”
Kate has been in remission since January 2025 after she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024. The Princess of Wales is still “struggling” both emotionally and physically, and has visibly stepped back from royal duties this summer. “Behind closed doors, she’s still struggling emotionally and tires a lot more easily; it’s taking longer to readjust to royal life after her cancer treatment,” a palace insider claimed to RadarOnline.
“She’s still not back to where she was before her diagnosis, and she’s not sure she ever will be, which is why she’s told William she needs a decent break before term starts in September. She’s unofficially stepped back from royal duties this summer – and of course, William is wholly supportive,” the source explained.
Kate talked about the effects of cancer with patients and staff members of the NHS. “You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” she said. “Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”
She continued, “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,” she explained, sharing “And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you, and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”
