Glen Powell Just Responded to His Ex Speculating That He Cheated With Sydney Sweeney: ‘Relationships Are… ‘
When the press tour for Anyone But You was going on, there were a lot of rumors about Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney. Part of it was their obvious chemistry, which translated to their interviews. Part of it was also that the two played it off, because they were, after all, promoting a romantic comedy. What better way to promote a romantic comedy than with romance?
However, Powell was dating model Gigi Paris at the time and the narrative that he cheated on her took hold. Paris herself has speculated about it, most recently on the “Too Much” podcast a few months ago.

“It was just, this is what I have to do for my job. I had two options. I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, ‘Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she OK with this? What the fuck?’” Paris said. “Or stand up for myself and say, ‘No, I’m actually not OK with this, and I’m walking away.’ So that’s what I decided to do.”
She also said, “I just wanted respect, especially if it’s gonna be public. Like, don’t make an ass out of me. Like, just don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?” She also added, “And at the end of the day, it was like, well, work comes first. And if that’s the case, power to you, that’s your priority. I gotta walk away. What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.”
Now, Powell is finally addressing the breakup, the speculation, and especially, how his ex feels about it. “I will always have nothing but love for her and respect for her,” the actor told GQ, adding that, “Everybody’s always going to have their own narrative on things and all that. And she’s welcome to it.”
The actor also acknowledged that “relationships are really hard,” and added that “when two people break up, they each go to their own brunch, and they will each tell their own narrative.” This is all magnified by the fact that Powell’s star was rising at the time, and he has now become one of the better-known young actors in Hollywood.
In the interview, Powell said that co-star Tom Cruise gave him advice on how to handle the media frenzy around his love life. “He basically said, ‘Hey, it’s going to get really, really loud. It’s your job to just turn the volume down. Just remember you have your hand on that switch. You have your hand on the ability to turn up that noise or turn it down,’” Powell shared.
Sweeney’s relationship at the time of all the speculation surrounding Powell also ended, with the actress breaking up with her former fiancé Jonathan Davino. These days, however, Powell has been rumored to be dating Olivia Jade Giannulli, while Sweeney is reportedly dating Scooter Braun.
