King Charles’ health has conditioned everything to do with the royal family these days. That includes a lot of what Prince William is doing, as he is the heir to the throne. From plans for succession and the King’s funeral, to possible future changes to the monarchy, a lot is going on. And now, another big change is coming to something William holds dear.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ charitable organization, titled The Royal Foundation, is doing some reshuffling in the most important positions. Amanda Berry, who left her role as BAFTA CEO to take the position in 2022, will no longer be CEO. She will be replaced by Paramount‘s U.K. chief, Sarah Rose. According to Variety, in a note to her staff, Rose called joining the Foundation a “career-defining, unique role which I simply could not turn down.”

Berry, however, is not leaving the organization. Instead, she’s moving to the position of global partnerships ambassador, a role focused on the “development and delivery of The Prince and Princess of Wales’ philanthropic vision, working across their charitable interests.”
“We are looking forward to welcoming Sarah to The Royal Foundation and to working with her on some of the issues which are closest to our hearts,” said the Prince and Princess of Wales. “We are hugely grateful to Amanda for her exceptional leadership over the past three years and are pleased she will continue to work with us in her new role as Global Partnerships Ambassador.”
This all comes after King Charles recently joked that he was getting old, something which, in conjunction with his cancer, puts Prince William in the spotlight even more than usual. During a recent visit to officially open the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick, the BBC reported that after a woman older than the King said she was “wearing out,” King Charles responded with: “That’s the terrible thing I’m discovering. Bits don’t work so well when you get past 70.”
Recent reports about his illness had suggested the cancer was incurable, but manageable. Writer and associate editor of the Daily Telegraph, Camilla Tominey, recently said. “The talk now is that he may die ‘with’ cancer, but not ‘of’ cancer following a rigorous treatment program.”
RadarOnline was more dire in its reporting, saying that the King has been doing worse in recent days. “He is now shuffling around with a cane – and hitting the bottle, and in particular whisky, to numb the pain and despair he feels,” an insider said. And that’s not all, the outlet even described his recent health struggles as “a sad end for him,” with sources confirming that “his health has deteriorated significantly in recent months.”
All of this seems to be behind the renewed urgency for King Charles and Prince Harry to reconcile. But that’s reportedly more on the King and his youngest son. Reports indicate Prince William isn’t interested in reconciling with his brother, and he is instead focused on the future of the monarchy. That last part is at least easy to understand. Heavy is the head that wears the crown and all that.
