When Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom split, there were a lot of conversations about why they went their separate ways. And the days after their split was announced were filled with one shocking fact after another, from Orlando Bloom attending the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez solo to Katy Perry going out on a date with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. But these days, it seems like the two are facing an even bigger problem: a custody battle.
The couple, who announced their split after nine years together in June 2025, share one child, Daisy Dove Bloom, who is four. But it’s not custody over her that seems to be a problem. Instead, Perry and Bloom are reportedly disagreeing on who gets custody of their dog.

RadarOnline.com is reporting that both Perry and Bloom adore their teacup poodle, Biggie Smalls, and what’s happening with him has been a source of contention. “They’ve had a few dogs together and fostered a few, but Biggie Smalls is Orlando’s dog, at least that’s the way he sees it,” an insider told the publication. “He got the dog last year and refuses to part with him. Besides, he thinks Biggie Smalls loves him more.”
We know how it is with pets. They always have a favorite human.
“Orlando says he bathes him, takes him to the vet, and cleans up after him when he makes a mess, which isn’t very often because Orlando has him trained,” the insider revealed. “The way Orlando sees it, he does more for the dog, so he should have him.”
For Perry, it’s not that simple. “Katy loves Biggie Smalls, too, and word is she wants to keep the dog or at the very least be part of the dog’s life on a part-time basis.” However, the insider claims, “There’s no way Orlando is giving up full custody of Biggie Smalls.”
“Their friends think it’s kind of sad. They seem to be coparenting Daisy just fine with no real issues, but Biggie Smalls is a different matter,” the source added. “It’s going to be hard for Katy to accept he’s Orlando’s dog, and heartbreaking, too.”
All of this comes after reports that the relationship between the two is tense. Entertainment Tonight reported that things “still aren’t great” and “their relationship is a bit awkward and strained.” All normal things after a split, particularly after being together for such a long time. But add in this custody drama on top of it, and it’s bound to add a lot more stress to a relationship that, for the sake of their daughter, they both hope could be cordial, at least.
It might seem like a dog isn’t enough to cause this kind of grief, particularly when the exes are reportedly not having issues with the custody arrangement for their daughter, Daisy, but in many ways, pets are like children. And they can’t really talk and tell you what they want, which makes it all the more complicated.
