US President Donald Trump is heading to the UK for a state visit soon, and preparations for the visit have been heavily discussed during the past few days. The UK Parliament won’t be in session, so Trump won’t be addressing them, but there will be a state banquet involving President Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and the British royal family. But that’s not all.

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, is set to host Melania Trump for a joint appearance at Windsor Castle’s Frogmore Gardens to highlight scouting, as part of an effort from the UK to cultivate close ties with the Trump Administration. During the joint appearance, both will meet with Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and members of the Scouts’ Squirrels program. A day before that, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will host the President and the first lady at Windsor Castle.

Melania Trump is also expected to hold a joint appearance with Queen Camilla. The two will tour Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle. Middleton met with Jill Biden in 2021 and with the Obamas in 2016, so this isn’t the first time she’s met a US first lady. In fact, it’s a regular part of state visits such as this one. In fact, the only thing of note about President Trump’s state visit is that it will be the second one, as he also visited the UK in 2019.

While Melania Trump is making a joint appearance with Middleton, the President will have his own packed schedule for the short 3-day visit, which includes a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his wife, Victoria, and a separate private meeting with King Charles. And of course, there is the state banque,t which is expected to be attended by more of the British royal family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Trump was reportedly set to arrive in the UK on September 17 and leave on the 19th, but his visit has now been rescheduled due to his busy schedule. He will arrive on September 16 and leave the UK on September 18.

News that Middleton is set to play a large role in the plans to welcome US President Donald Trump comes after reports that her presence would be looked on favorably by the President. Royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror that, “Catherine will be the icing on the cake for a man as vain as Donald Trump. To be seen with her will be gold dust in his eyes. And I’m sure she will be there to massage his ego in the most diplomatic, subtle and regal way.”

The Daily Beast recently reported that the King is “very concerned” that President Trump could use the UK visit to address topics like immigration, as he has in places like Scotland. Brittani Barger, co-founder of Royal News, told Daily Express U.S.: “If King Charles is concerned President Trump will speak out of turn, he has good reason to think that,” adding, “President Trump does not hide his feelings or opinions, no matter who is around. And that is one reason so many people love him, but so many also dislike him.”

The British royal family is, overall, having a very good September, with King Charles and Prince Harry having met for the first time in over a year. Now, the royals are hoping they can play the gracious host to the US President and first lady and help cement the UK and the US as close allies.
