With the state visit from US President Donald Trump there has been a lot of renewed talk about Prince Andrew, particularly considering a lot of the protests towards President Trump’s visit highlighted his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Since Prince Andrew’s connections with Epstein are part of the reason he’s no longer a working royal, people wondered if he would be attending any of the events to welcome Trump, or if the two would meet.

There was also a fair bit of interest in Prince William’s reaction, as he has been reportedly against his uncle having any kind of public appearance alongside the rest of the family. And things there appear to be even worse than ever with the Daily Beast reporting that William was “furious” at being “ambushed” by his uncle during the funeral of the Duchess of Kent. William reportedly called the whole thing a “disgrace.”

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - SEPTEMBER 16: (EMBARGOED FOR PUBLICATION IN UK NEWSPAPERS UNTIL 24 HOURS AFTER CREATE DATE AND TIME) Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Prince William, Prince of Wales attend Katharine, Duchess of Kent's Requiem Mass service at Westminster Cathedral on September 16, 2025 in London, England. Katharine, Duchess of Kent was married to Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. She died on September 4 at the age of 92 at Kensington Palace surrounded by her family. Having converted to Catholicism in 1994, her funeral takes place at Westminster Cathedral and is the first Catholic funeral to be held for a member of the royal family in modern British history. Her Royal Highness will be laid to rest at the Royal Burial Ground at Frogmore, Windsor

Prince William was photographed alongside his father, King Charles, and his uncle Prince Andrew during the funeral. He looked visibly upset in the pictures, and in one video of Prince Andrew trying to talk to him, William simply nods while looking less than pleased. He doesn’t say a word back to Prince Andrew.

This seems to confirm allegations that “Prince William has long had a strained and distant relationship with Andrew,” as reported by British royal expert Hilary Fordwich to Fox News in May 2025. Fordwich added that William has “a grudge against his disgraced uncle,” and that he is very much trying to vanish his uncle from public view. The reason behind this is not just the stain he feels Andrew is leaving on the royal family, but a reported “rude” comment he made about Kate Middleton.

According to Fordwich, William’s wants to make sure Prince Andrew is “completely excluded” from the royal family. “[William is] very in touch with the public,” she said. “Every public opinion poll has Andrew at the bottom, reinforcing Prince William’s stance. Once king, no doubt, Prince William will ensure Andrew is completely excluded from royal life, as well as all public appearances.”

British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard added to Fox News, “He recognizes the public animosity towards Andrew. He views him as a complete liability with his series of scandals, both past and present, shoveling shame on the family. His stance towards his uncle is tough. He will not entertain anyone toxic to the brand. Andrew will not be part of the streamlined monarchy.”

Some have even indicated that William would be willing to take away Andrew’s titles when he becomes King, but reports by NewsNation indicate that’s unlikely. ”There is no way Charles would do it,” a well-placed insider told the outlet. “Everyone keeps saying William will take away Andrew and Harry’s titles when he becomes king, but he literally can’t do that without an act of Parliament,” the source added. “There is absolutely no way William would do that, as it would bring even more attention to the issues with them both.”

Prince Andrew was not present at the state banquet to honor US President Donald Trump, and he didn’t take part in any of the public events associated with the visit. This is on par for the course for Andrew, who has mostly stayed away from the spotlight since his disastrous 2019 Newsnight interview, where he discussed his connection with Epstein. He was also sued in 2014 for sex trafficking, and his connection to convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell has been the thing people remember most about him for years.

All of this explains why Prince Andrew was kept away from the latest state visit, and why Prince William will reportedly take steps against him once he becomes King. Now we’ll just have to wait and see what actually happens.
