While Donald Trump‘s state visit to the UK was seen as an overall success, there seemed to be chaos in the kitchen. An alleged fight broke out during the banquet that King Charles hosted for the president.
A source dished to the Daily Mail that the kitchen staff had an alleged scuffle with the Secret Service. “The banquet was a resounding success in the main hall, but there was a disruption behind the scenes,” the source said. “Tensions flared between the chefs preparing the meal and the U.S. security team responsible for protecting the president and his entourage.”
The source also explained that “several members of the Secret Service team guarding the president went into the kitchen to oversee the preparation by the royal chefs, and even tasting the food—which some of them felt was disruptive.”
According to the publication, “[T]he atmosphere in the kitchen quickly became tense as tempers began to fray between kitchen staff and visiting American security.”
Chefs working for the event “grew frustrated,” particularly as they were “working to plate three courses flawlessly.”
“What began as quiet irritation escalated into a heated exchange, with raised voices on both sides,” a source explained. “It took several minutes for tempers to cool and for the kitchen to return to its usual rhythm.”
A rep for Buckingham Palace said that the claims of a fight in the kitchen were “categorically untrue.” However, a source who attended the banquet suggested the disruption was “impossible to miss.”
During the state banquet, King Charles and Donald Trump gave speeches about the US and UK relationship. “Our people have fought and died together for the values we hold dear,” said the King.
The president praised the King’s son, Prince William, saying he would be an “unbelievable success in the future” and called Kate Middleton “radiant and so healthy and so beautiful”.
According to The Independent, Trump will reportedly invite King Charles to the US during the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Prince William is prepared to attend in his father’s place if King Charles’s schedule does not allow. Sources revealed that a visit from either King Charles and Queen Camilla or Prince William and Kate is a key part of Britain’s diplomacy with the current White House administration.
