Taylor Swift’s Secret Role in Selena Gomez’s Wedding Revealed After She Pleaded to Be the ‘Flower Girl’

It was a fairytale wedding. Selena Gomez just got married to Benny Blanco in an intimate ceremony on Sept. 27, 2025, surrounded by friends. But what was her BFF Taylor Swift‘s role in the nuptials?

Taylor gave a speech during the reception for her best friend, according to a source for People. The “Lover” singer and Wizards of Waverly Place actress’s mutual best friend Ed Sheeran also gave a speech for the newlyweds. Only Murders in the Building stars Steve Martin and Martin Short gave speeches at the rehearsal dinner. Selena Gomez’s mother and stepfather Mandy Teefey and Brian Teefey, as well as Benny Blanco’s parents, Sandra and Andrew Levin gave a toast to the bride and groom.

“At the reception, everyone was letting loose and celebrating them well into the night,” a source told the site. “The vibe was so much fun.”

The source continued, “They were glowing all night, and both Selena and Benny couldn’t stop smiling. There was so much love in the room.”

When Selena posted a picture of her engagement ring, Taylor left a comment, saying, “yes I will be the flower girl.” The actress captioned the engagement pictures with “forever begins now..” with the two enjoying Taco Bell on a romantic picnic. 

Selena also celebrated Taylor’s engagement to beau and NFL tight end Travis Kelce. She reposted their announcement on her story with the caption “When bestie gets engaged 🥰.”

Taylor Swift had a huge hand in the two launching their relationship. The megastar threw an afterparty for an awards show and Benny recounted in  Spotify’s Countdown to , “No one knew we were dating and we were hiding.”

The BFF pair go way back. Selena shared to Jake Shane on Therapuss that the two bonded over dating the Jonas Brothers and their bond stuck eversince. “I dated Nick and she dated Joe. And everything was, it was cute, we were young. We all know and love each other now and it’s so cute. We don’t know what we were doing — She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet.”

“And then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after and here we are now 16 years later,” she added.
