Mae Martin Addressed Elliot Page Dating Rumors in Resurfaced Interview After They Were Photographed Together: ‘He’s the Best…’

They’re two of the most notable queer icons in film and TV right now. Mae Martin has been making waves with their new Netflix series Wayward, and same with Elliot Page with The Umbrella Academy. But, lots of people are wondering how close they are to each other.
In 2022, Page took Martin to the LACMA’s 11th Annual LACMA Art+Film Gala. The comedian made a post about the event. “My King @elliotpage took me out. 💜 Thank you @gucci for the suit and @lacma for the stunning night. #t4t” Some celebs fawned over the two in the comments of the Instagram post. “Cannot handle this pic,” said Halsey, while Abbi Jacobson commented some affectionate emojis: “😍😍❤️❤️🔥🔥.” Jameela Jamil added, “Oh my god so hot.”
The pics caused some chatter online with some fans on Reddit saying, “Omg whether platonic or romantic they look so effing cute here!!”

Are Mae Martin & Elliot Page Dating?
Mae Martin and Elliot Page are not dating. Mae Martin is in a relationship with Survivor and The Traitors alum Parvati Shallow, while Elliot Page is in a relationship with Overcompensating Star Julia Shiplett.
As for those photos, Mae Martin told Xtra that“I’m still, like, so honoured if anyone speculates about my love life,” they say, laughing. “I’m also particularly honoured that anyone would think that Elliot and I were dating, so that was kind of fun. Everyone went nuts. But yeah, he’s the best date and I just get lucky I get brought as peoples’ plus-one into these things.”
Page and Martin met at a bar when they were 19 in Canada and aspiring actors. The two have been supportive of their coming out journies throughtout the years. “I was like a weird sort-of homeless stoner – I had an apartment, but there were no locks on the door,” Martin told PinkNews. “Elliot was filming X-Men at the time, I think, and we had a mutual friend.
“So we had that one night, and then years later Elliot sent me a message saying he’d seen my stand-up, and then we became friends.”
“That was very inspiring and reassuring,” Martin recalled about Page telling them that he was trans before publicly coming out. “It’s nice to have someone you can bounce off of who’s going through something similar.”
In response to Martin’s Netflix show Feel Good, Page told the New York Times, “Mae’s integrity, vulnerability and intelligence sets them apart, both as a person and as a creative force to be reckoned with,” Page said. “When I first saw their work, I was struck by their honest and nuanced depiction of gender and sexuality, and clearly, it is resonating with other people as well.”
Shallow and Martin started dating in January 2023. The winner was elated about their relationship from the start. “I’m just really happy and this relationship has a healthy emotional, physical and spiritual connection,” she said. “I tell all my friends to be queer!”
“Getting divorced and going through that experience that I went through was really challenging,” Shallow says. “And then meeting Mae, that is a very different relationship than one that I’ve ever had.”
However, in January 2025, Shallow revealed that their relationship might be “in a flux situation.” She told People, “I’ve been through trying to fit myself into the structures of society and the definitions of dating and the definitions of relationships. I’m traveling so much and having these really fun, amazing adventures, so I’m in this place of asking myself, what do I really want?”
However, Shallow cleared up the state of their relationship when promoting her memoir Nice Girls Don’t Win. Shallow told Us Weekly, “It’s open-ended, unresolved.”
“[Meeting Mae] was like a miracle and changed everything for me because it shook up my whole world of dating, relationships, love, sex and what all of that could feel like and look like,” Shallow told Us. She detailed key milestones in their relationship in the book such as using a strap-on for a first time and exploring her sexuality.
Page debuted his relationship with Julia Shiplett in an Instgram pride post in 2025 where the two were embracing each other on a rainbow road. The couple made their red carpet debut at Milan Fashion Week for the celebration of Gucci’s spring/summer 2026 collection.
