There’s always a period of adjustment when you move into a new place. That goes for you and your new neighbors. And that’s probably even more complicated when you’re royalty. But it seems like Prince William and Kate Middleton’s new neighbors already have issues with the Prince and Princess of Wales’ move to their upcoming house in Forest Lodge.
Yes, that’s right. The two have yet to move to the £16 million, eight-bedroom home in Windsor Great Park, and yet there are already concerns about the move. And those concerns have to do with the normal stuff that comes with having such famous neighbors – worries about what will change once William, Kate, and their children move in, particularly when it comes to a particular dog walking spot.

This is because the Prince and Princess of Wales have had a ‘no-go zone’ installed around their home, and anyone found crossing the boundaries will be arrested. The problem? These boundaries cut into a pretty popular dog-walking spot. The locals are not pleased about that.
“Many of us have been walking our dogs here for 20 years, so to be told we can’t any more is a kick in the teeth,” a local told The Sun. “We pay [£110] annually towards the upkeep of a park, but we are no longer going to be allowed to use part of it,” she said.
Not just that, they’ve gotten pretty short notice about the changes. “They’ve only given us a few days’ notice to say this section of forest is closing forever. Now I’ll need to get in my car to drive further afield to take my dog for a walk.”
Another local confessed he had conflicting feelings. “Obviously, it’s disappointing as my dog loves it here,” the neighbor said. “We come here every couple of weeks, and we’re going to have to find somewhere else now for him to get the miles in.” However, he gets why it’s happening. “But I completely understand that the safety of William, Kate, and their family is paramount, so we should make sure they can live happily here.”
Yet another person was fully supportive. “We love the royals and William and Kate, and it’s so exciting they are moving to Forest Lodge,” they said. “It’s clear this car park closure has not come from them, but is down to security concerns.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales are moving from their home of three years, Adelaide Cottage, to Forest Lodge and are reportedly hoping the move is permanent. “Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind. This is a move for the long term. They see it as their forever home,” a source told NBC News.
Forest Lodge is currently being renovated according to William and Kate’s specifications, with new shrubs being planted around the house and a metal fence with black mesh privacy screens being placed around the front to ensure privacy. The two are reportedly paying for the renovations themselves.
