With every new report about the relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry, there’s an underlying question: What about William? The King and his youngest son recently met, and though the meeting was reportedly positive, there have been suggestions of sabotage from Harry’s camp in regards to how some information has leaked. But amid all of this, very little has been said about Prince William and the possibility that he might reconcile with his brother.

However, as with most siblings, it’s hard to separate your life and your experiences from those of the person you grew up with. That much was made clear by Prince William’s appearance in Eugene Levy’s new Apple TV+ series, “The Reluctant Traveler.” During the episode, William discussed the fact that his son, Prince George, will eventually be king with Levy.

“There are lots of things to think about with that,” William said, “But obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.” The Prince of Wales has reportedly made a concerted effort when it comes to his children to go against tradition in small but important ways, like the school they attend, and has talked openly about modernizing the monarchy.

For William, that means learning from past mistakes. “That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in,” he added, “and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”

It was a rare mention of his brother and their upbringing for William, who has seemingly not had much contact with Harry since he and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals and moved to the United States. The last time the two were even photographed together was at their grandmother’s funeral in 2022.

Harry’s relationship with his father, King Charles, was also strained until very recently, when the two had a meeting that has been considered by some as a good first step for reconciliation, not just for father and son, but for the whole family. However, whether that ever includes William or not might depend on whether his feelings about his brother have actually changed.

The Daily Beast reported earlier this year that, according to a friend of William, “He absolutely f—ing hates” his brother Harry, with the same source adding that, “William will never, ever forgive Harry for what he has done. Charles is the king; he can do what he likes. But make no mistake: William believes with every fiber of his being that giving Harry and Meghan back any royal imprimatur is a huge mistake.”

One thing seems clear: the good memories of the time spent with his brother, Prince Harry, and the closeness they shared are still very much present for Prince William. Whether that means they can now fix their relationship or not remains to be seen.
