Nicole Kidman had an idea of where her life was going right before news of her split with Keith Urban was revealed to the world. The Baby Girl actress opened up to Vogue about her life, and unexpectedly dropped some insights about her deteriorating relationship with the country singer.
Journalist Wendell Steavenson wrote that she had felt a bit of the relationship woes in their talks weeks before the article published. “During our conversations I had guessed as much, but I didn’t want to pry,” she recalled. “When I asked about how she felt now, in her 50s, I had expected to hear a nice trite response about the sagacity of age. Instead Kidman was wry, rueful, unsure of herself.”
Steavenson was inclined to ask the question, “How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?” To which Kidman responded that she “leans on” her “ride-or die” friendships with her Nashville neighbors for support, like Reese Witherspoon and a doctor who works at Vanderbilt Hospital.
“I put it in my work,” she told the fashion magazine. “That’s the beauty of what I do. There’s a place for some of this to explode, implode, process, discover.”
Kidman later went on a tangent that was very existential. “So much to say and so little time to say it,” she siad. “About death and life and joy and grief and loss and sex and why we’re here and what is truth and is truth even necessary.”
News of their split broke on September 29, and Kidman filed for divorce the next day. The Baby Girl actress was reportedly “blindsided” by their split. “Keith has not been honest,” a source told People. “She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he’s already moved on. It’s devastating to her. She’s shocked.”
The insider noted that “their split is turning dramatic” and that Nicole is “hurt and feels betrayed.”
TMZ reported there might already be another woman in Urban’s life. “All the signs point to the fact Keith is with another woman,” a source told the site. “Let’s just say, Nicole doesn’t dispute that, but she’s still shocked over it.” A source close to Kidman said, “It’s all over Nashville.”
As well as her friendships, Nicole Kidman is also leaning on her daughters during the difficult time. “While Keith has been away on tour all summer, Nicole and her daughters have been inseparable, spending time together bonding,” an insider told People. “Now the focus is back to school in Nashville, where Nic has been getting the girls ready for the new year.” The actress accompanied her girls to Paris Fashion Week on the week after the news of her split.
