It looks like Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud goes deeper than fans think. Channel 5’s new documentary, Prince Harry: My Terrible Year, claims that one of the main reasons the Dukes of Sussex and Cambridge no longer speak is because of his public comments about William’s wife, Kate Middleton, in his memoir, Spare, as well as his 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle.
“For William, Harry crossed a line that can’t be undone – he tore down Catherine for financial gain he wasn’t desperate for. That sort of betrayal leaves a lasting wound,” a source told Radar Online.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward also criticized Harry for speaking ill of Kate for financial gain. “He rubbished Kate for money he didn’t even need – that will not be easily forgiven,” she said.
Harry accused Kate of making Meghan cry in Spare when her daughter Princess Charlotte’s dress for his and Meghan’s wedding was “too big, too long, and baggy” and that the young royal “burst into tears when she tried it on.” He claimed that, while Meghan offered for a tailor to fix Charlotte’s dress, Meghan allegedly insisted that all the bridesmaids’ dresses be remade with four days left before the wedding. After the disagreement, Harry also wrote that he later found Meghan “on the floor” in tears. He also wrote that Kate apologized to Meghan the next day with flowers and a card.

While it’s unclear if Kate has forgiven Harry for his public comments about her, Radar Online’s source claims that William will never forgive his brother for how he’s treated his wife. “Each time Harry has gone public, particularly when Catherine was drawn in, it’s pushed him further from William. For William, criticism of his wife crosses a line, which is why forgiving him seems out of reach,” the insider said.
Since leaving the British royal family in 2020 and stepping down from their roles as senior members of The Firm, Harry and Meghan have faced backlash for their media ventures and transition into Hollywood, with many criticizing the couple’s lack of views on their Netflix content. “They see themselves as highly talented, but the truth is Harry’s identity came from being a royal and Meghan’s from her acting career. Beyond that, their appeal is quite restricted,” another insider said.
Another source added, “Harry believed people were truly interested in his story, but in fact the draw was always the revelations. Once those weren’t there, the show didn’t land.”
