It seems like everything Meghan Markle does causes controversy for some people. And though that has typically not included her husband, who has been extremely supportive of her, reports often end up painting the marriage as if it’s going through a rocky patch. So far, it seems like all of those reports have been far off the mark, considering the couple is not just still together but seems happy. But the interest in their relationship and what Harry feels about every new controversy, valid or otherwise, continues.
Now, new reports indicate Prince Harry is “hurt and upset” by the criticism she has gotten after her recent trip to Paris. Markle recently flew to Paris for Fashion Week and attended the Balenciaga Spring 2026 show. During her time in the city, she posted a video of her experience, which showed her in the car around the city. In the video, she’s in her car, with her feet up in the seat in front of her, as they pass by the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides bridges, both on the River Seine.

The clip received criticism as some said the location was too close to where Princess Diana died. However, Harry is not buying it, with reports saying the youngest son of King Charles considered it a “hell of a stretch” to say Markle purposefully drove past the site. “Harry was left hurt and upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with. [Meghan] did not even pass close to the tunnel,” a source told The Daily Mail. “The whole thing is a joke, but not a very funny one for Harry.”
Sources also said, “He was left feeling hurt, but the depressing thing is he wasn’t even that surprised. He was more despondent than shocked.” According to People, a source close to Harry said he “will always protect his wife and family from what he sees as unkind, negative and agenda-driven media narratives.”
Prince Harry’s unequivocal support for his wife comes after Rob Shuter reported that Prince William was among those who didn’t react positively to the clip at all. Harry is said to be trying to reconcile with his brother after he recently met up with his father for the first time in over a year. According to Shuter, though, William “saw the clip and went white with anger” and is now “livid beyond words.”
“To him, it wasn’t just bad taste – it was personal desecration,” a source told the gossip journalist. “That tunnel is sacred ground. For Meghan to treat it like a selfie moment was the ultimate insult,” with another source saying that William “said it was grotesque. He couldn’t believe she’d film herself near the very spot that destroyed his family.”
Markle wasn’t actually that close to the tunnel where Princess Diana died; it’s just that she seems to be heading in the direction of the Pont d’Alma bridge. That bridge is next to the Pont d’Alma tunnel, where Princess Diana, Dodi Fayed, and their driver Henri Paul died in a car crash in August 1997.
We might just have to wait and see if this latest controversy really affects the chances of reconciliation for the British royal family. But Prince Harry is standing firmly behind his wife, as he has always done.
