The relationship between Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has always been kind of strange to outside eyes. The two had a fairytale courtship and marriage, then a very bad divorce with cheating allegations on both sides, and now the two live together—even though they remain divorced—and have a relationship that might or might not be romantic, but that is clearly a partnership. Or, at least they did.
New reports indicate Sarah Ferguson, known as Fergie, would love to distance herself from her ex-husband’s controversies. The irony of that is that the recent Jeffrey Epstein scandal involved her, not Andrew. She was the one apologizing to the convicted sex offender after denouncing him in public. Still, RadarOnline.com reports that Fergie is “emotionally exhausted and desperate to escape” life at Royal Lodge, which she shares with Andrew.

Sources close to Ferguson said, “Sarah feels utterly trapped. She’s furious that, after everything she’s survived – cancer, heartbreak, humiliation – she’s now being pulled back into Andrew’s and the Epstein mess again. She’d love to move out of Royal Lodge, but she’s terrified of what that would mean. She’s older, she’s tired, and she’s afraid of being completely alone.”
The friend also added, “There’s no love left there with Andrew as a partner, but she’s been tied to him for decades. He’s her past and, in some sad way, her safety net. Even when he ruins her peace, she still feels responsible for him.”
Recent claims about Ferguson’s relationship with Epstein paint a different picture. Andrew Lownie’s new book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York goes into details about both their ties to the convicted sex offender, and its’ not pretty.
In a conversation with Tina Brown, Lownie claimed that Ferguson stayed in contact with Jeffrey Epstein for five years after they said they cut ties. “Fergie was staying at [Epstein’s older brother] Mark Epstein’s flats around the corner until 2015,” he said. “What we’ve got to remember is that Sarah had 18 numbers in the Black Book. Andrew only had 16.” He also revealed that Epstein gave Fergie as much as $2 million, which is way more than the $15K that has been reported. Ferguson told The Telegraph that she “deeply regrets” accepting the money from Epstein.
Recent revelations about the Duchess of York’s ties to Epstein led Virginia Giuffre’s sister-in-law to call for her to be stripped of her royal title after she called Epstein a “supreme friend” in a leaked 2011 email. A spokesperson for Ferguson did not deny the email was real, but attempted to give context. “This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.” Epstein threatened to sue after the Duchess of York publicly came out against him.
This recent leaked email scandal caused seven charities to remove Sarah Ferguson as patron or ambassador, according to the BBC. Those charities are Prevent Breast Cancer, the Teenage Cancer Trust, Children’s Hospice Julia’s House, the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, the Children’s Literacy Charity, and the British Heart Foundation. There are also reports that it’s been the final nail in the coffin of the relationship between Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson and the rest of the royal family, with the two allegedly no longer invited to spend Christmas with the rest of the royals.
