Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s many controversies have caused a lot of drama for the British royal family. The former couple’s connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein are just the tip of the iceberg, but those connections have come up again recently after leaked emails reported Ferguson apologized to Epstein after publicly denouncing him.

In general, the British royal family has tried to ignore the scandals as much as possible. They have not always been successful, but they’ve tried. However, there comes a point where it gets to be too much, and it seems like we’re already there. Case in point, King Charles has reportedly asked his brother, Prince Andrew, and Sarah Ferguson to keep a low profile, and that includes not inviting them to the family’s Christmas celebrations this year.

A source close to King Charles told The Sunday Times, “You can’t sack someone from being your brother. But this year, if the duke and duchess were both to be as honourable [as last year], it would be very much for the best and the family would not be disappointed, not least to avoid the King having to make any more difficult decisions.”

In 2024, the Duke and Duchess of York stayed at their Windsor residence, Royal Lodge, for Christmas. The King and other family members gathered at Sandringham. That reportedly included Princess Beatrice. Princess Eugenie, meanwhile, spent the holiday with her husband’s family.

According to The Times, King Charles would prefer that his brother and Sarah Ferguson remain “invisible” when possible, using private entrances and exits.

“The King is not of the mind to banish someone worshipping at church or attending family occasions like a funeral,” the outlet reported. “But he would hope they would find a more discreet way of attending these events. In the Duke of York’s case, he seems to relish the prospect of not being low-key about it.”

Seven charities removed Sarah Ferguson as patron or ambassador after the recent scandal of her apology to Epstein. Those charities are Prevent Breast Cancer, the Teenage Cancer Trust, Children’s Hospice Julia’s House, the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, the Children’s Literacy Charity, and the British Heart Foundation. These reports came days after both she and Prince Andrew were seen with other members of the royal family at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent.

This comes after RadarOnline reported that King Charles wants both his brother and Ferguson removed from Royal Lodge following the new scandal, calling this the “final straw” for the couple, who might soon end up homeless.

“The King’s patience is at an end,” an insider added. “If Sarah’s income dries up and Andrew has no means of support, their hand may finally be forced. Charles is determined that Royal Lodge will not be their refuge forever.”

Whether they end up staying at Royal Lodge or not, it seems like the British royal family is done with appearing in public next to Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. And, to be honest, it’s about time.
