The Real Reason TWICE Only Performed With 4 Out of the 9 Members at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
This is for all the ladies who love Victoria’s Secret Angels. TWICE just made history at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, but some of their fans are wondering where the other five members of the girl group are.
TWICE became the first K-pop group to perform at the lingerie fashion brand’s esteemed fashion show alongside acts like Karol G, Madison Beer, and Missy Elliott on Oct. 15, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. However, when fans (affectionally called ONCE) looked at the runway, they only counted five members of the girl group: Nayeon, Jihyo, Tzuyu & Momo. The girls performed the hit singles “This Is For” and “Strategy” and stunned on the runway with their amazing dancing and singing.

Why Didn’t All TWICE Members Perform at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?
The exact reason why the remaining members of TWICE—Jeongyeon, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung—didn’t attend is unclear. The girl group is currently embarking on their extensive THIS IS FOR world tour (which you can buy tickets here). They recently completed their shows in Singapore on Oct. 11 and 12, and are going to Kuala Lampur, Malaysia on October 25, so the chances are that the other members are doing other activities or resting.
In an interview with Billboard on the red carpet, leader Jihyo said via a translator, “We are used to doing the performances with nine members, but this time we are able to do only four of us, so I hope you guys enjoy this new performance of us.”
The four members talked to NYLON about their monumental moment on the runway and how it’s different from the rest of their performances. “We’re in the midst of touring, but this performance is different from our typical tour,” one of the members said. “I think the fans can expect it to be different and fresh. This is our first time in 10 years doing something like this, so it’s going to be really fun.”
The girls also marveled at the fashion show when they were given the offer. “When we first heard the news that we’d be performing at the VSFS, it honestly felt like a dream come true,” Tzuyu said. “We immediately started thinking about how to prepare for the stage and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect, since we just released our 10th-anniversary album TEN: The Story Goes On last Friday. Everything fell into place.”
