Prince Edward, Prince Andrew

As the ramifications of Prince Andrew’s actions are felt throughout the British royal family, everyone has had to take a side. Or, well, everyone has had to make it clear they’re not on Andrew’s side, because at this point being on his side is toxic. Case in point King Charles, who for years refused to take any steps about his brother but who now reportedly had a hand in Andrew deciding to relinquish his royal titles and honors.

Princess Anne is reportedly very much on the King’s side on the matter. But what about their younger brother, Prince Edward? The Duke’s youngest brother, Prince Edward, is also standing firmly behind the King. Royal expert and author Christopher Andersen told Us Weekly, “Andrew bullied his little brother when they were younger, but they grew closer over the years,” he said.

“Still, Edward has no choice but to fully support Charles in his efforts to rid himself of the problematic Duke of York.”

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace on Friday, Oct. 17, Prince Andrew announced he would stop using his titles and honors. “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.”

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me,” he added, “As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

Not really an apology, much less an acceptance of guilt in any way. This despite the fact that Andrew was stripped of his military titles and the use of HRH due to his links to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in 2022, with even more damaging information about the relationship coming out since and more expected to come out in the upcoming weeks. Then, there are the reports about Sarah Ferguson’s ties to Epstein as well.

Plus, there’s the fact that King Charles, who had notoriously stayed out of it, was now forced to act, and Prince William will likely do worse once he’s King. Insiders say William and Andrew don’t get along at all, and the Prince will not be stopped by nostalgia like his father has. British royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News earlier this year that the William holds “grudge against his disgraced uncle” and will do whatever it takes to protect the institution of the monarchy from his controversies.

That reportedly includes stripping him of his Prince title and not inviting him to his coronation. And it seems like everyone in the family is on the same page with this decision, even Andrew’s siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward. At some point, it becomes too much to support, even for those closest to you.
