Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, are finally facing some consequences for their close ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. And even though those consequences are, in the grand scheme of things, nothing as big as what their conduct might demand, the fact that Andrew had to give up his royal titles and honors is more than a lot of people expected. But now, as Andrew and Fergie take a step back, the question becomes, what about their daughters?

According to The Times, their status will remain largely unchanged. The outlet reports King Charles “made it clear” that their status will be “preserved.” They will continue to be known as the “York Sisters” despite their father giving up his “Duke of York” title. A source called it: a “happy outcome of [their] father’s titles being extant but inactive.”

Reportedly the sisters will also continue to be invited to celebrate Christmas with the royal family in Sandringham, despite the fact that neither of their parents will ever be invited again.

Their status, however, could still change if William enacts his plans for the monarchy once he’s kind. The Daily Beast recently reported that the heir to the throne plans to “remove princely titles from all non-working royals” and strip everyone of their honorific “HRH” titles via executive royal order. This also includes his own children, whose titles will reportedly be “parked” until they’re old enough to decide if they want to be working royals or not.

Positive news about Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie comes after reports that both William and Kate Middleton are less than happy with the fact that Prince Andrew is still living at Royal Lodge, which is close to their new home of Forest Lodge. Royal author Tina Brown recently went on the record to say that the Prince and Princess of Wales want Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, gone.

In her Fresh Hell Substack (via the Daily Mail), Brown wrote, “Unless Andrew can be persuaded to banish himself to a cottage on the Balmoral estate or a cushy villa on a Dubai golf course, his scowly, jowly visage will keep seeping back into the national consciousness.”

She went on to add, “How do you disappear a 6-foot-tall, 190-pound, 65-year-old man in robust good health who has an iron-clad contract to live in the Queen Mother’s former mansion, a short neigh from Windsor Castle and just four miles from the new “forever” home of Prince William and Kate, who can’t abide him?”

It might not be that simple, but reports indicate Prince William will certainly try. The Sunday Times recently reported that when William is King, he will ban Prince Andrew from royal life entirely. That includes public and private events and state occasions, which include his coronation. Nothing has apparently been decided yet about state funerals, Brown said.

“The thornier question, perhaps approaching faster than anyone is indelicate enough to discuss, is whether, in the fullness of time, Andrew will be allowed to attend his brother, the king’s, funeral.”

For now, everyone would rather he stay out of sight, out of mind. Perhaps even his daughters.
